Summary: PLEASE tell me this book is a practical joke
Review: If I'd had my way this book would have got .0001 star.

Admittedly the first few chapters are gripping. However, my husband and I listened to the book on tape while traveling, and I predicted to him halfway through the 6-hour recording *exactly* how the story would end. I was absolutely right.

I am convinced that either John Grisham did not write this nonsense, or someone else far more talented helped him write the previous works with his name on them. I am only relieved that I did not spend a dime of my good money to hear this pathetic excuse for a story, and urge anyone who is considering buying the book to reconsider. Borrow it from the library if you must subject yourself to it. But Grisham is obviously FAR too rich already if he'd dare put his name to such an excuse for literature.

Forget another big-screen blockbuster. Even the Sunday night made-for-TV scene is far too good for this drivel.

Summary: As bad as it gets
Review: The opening chapter of this book does an excellent job of drawing in the reader, but the bulk of the story is an unspeakable disappointment that left me wondering whether anyone with a fraction of John Grisham's intelligence could possibly have written it. It is a contrived, predictable, thinly-disguised piece of religious propaganda that left me so cold that it will take more than a little convincing to ever get me to pick up another of his books, let alone pay good money to own one. Words cannot express my disappointment.

Summary: Not his best but not his worst---rushed the ending
Review: Testament departs from Grisham's usual courtroom/law office settings. The story unfolds slowly and in detail but JG rushes us into the ending. Did he have a deadline to meet? I think this book will translate well onto the big screen---law jungle adventure. If I were casting, I'd pick Harrison Ford as Nate.

Summary: Another Grisham hit
Review: Of course it was another first chapter shocker that Grisham seems to do in all of his books. It was a little slow in the middle. I really like the book

Summary: Great Grisham
Review: I thought the book the Testament was the greatest book I've ever read. One of Grisham's better books. A-non-stop-page-turner-action-packed- adverture for the whole family. You gotta read it.

Summary: Grisham Gets Back on Track
Review: I have read all of John Grisham's books and was disappointed with his previous book, "The Street Lawyer". I was anxious to read "The Testament" so I could see if he would return to his original form. I am happy to say that he is definitely back to his extremely good original form. This book was well researched and is great fun to read. I found it difficult to put down and I would recommend it to anyone.

Summary: Well Rounded Story Telling
Review: Some may be disappointed that The Testament is not an "exclusively lawyer novel", I was impressed. The novel is well written. I thought it might be predictable, but it was not. It was a well rounded story. I liked it.

Summary: Good Starting Bad Finishing
Review: The story starts off with good with a lot of funny remarks about the Phelan children. Howeverever Grisham board a lot of his readers in the middle. Mostly due to the long search for Rachel.

Summary: This book was a great and interesting read.
Review: I really did enjoy The Testament and I will have to go out and read his other books. I would love to see this movie on screen. I loved the characters and how they lived their lives. The Phelen children really did fascinate me with their greed and avarice lifestyles and not to mention how they just couldn't believe what the father did to them. Nate, the lawyer was an interesting character as well as Rachel Lane. I loved this book and will be the first in the theater when it hits the screen. Sigourney Weaver would make a great Rachel .

Summary: Grisham phones it in
Review: This book is a complete disappointment. Grisham knows he will have a best seller, regardless of what he puts on a page. As a result, this weak attempt at a whole novel is laughable. Grisham took a trip to Brazil and made it the basis of this dreadful story. Don't bother reading it because Grisham didn't bother to write.
