Summary: Enough, already
Review: I had promised not to buy any more Grisham books, then a friend brought me a gift. As I started reading, I had a strong desire to hit the title character. As I continued, I wanted to hit the author. Totally unrealistic, shallow to no character development, completely forseeable and criss-crossed with technical errors. And from this he makes a living!

Summary: King of Torts
Review: I read an interview of Grisham wherein he said he did not expect all his books to be bestsellers. I suspect he was referring to the "King of Torts." I think he already knew this book was way below the expectations that people have when they pick up one of his books.
A young, struggling lawyer is offered a way to make a lot of money. He makes a lot of money, becomes entangled in the method of which he made it, loses a lot of money and nothing happens.
Characters are shallow, save your money and time. A verrrry boring book.
A shame when authors take advantage of their name and ability to sell books and put out a less than adequate effort.

Summary: Buy this book, it's as good as it gets
Review: If you are a Grisham's fan, buy this book and you'll not regret. It is as entertaining as his best ones. I wonder what the critics of this book were expecting from it other than having fun. I enjoyed the book greatly!

Summary: King of Torts by John Grisham
Review: Very disappointing product by John Grisham; characters are not well-developed, shallow. Story line too predictable. Hope to see much better from John Grisham in the future!

Summary: Worth Your Time
Review: I will admit that the manner in which the prime character in this book enters the realm of "The Kings of Torts" is a bit bizarre. However, once there, this book really takes off and tells it like it is. I have been involved in the type of litigation portrayed in the book and there is much more fact than fiction in the telling of how this type of litigation is handled and the forces that drive the results. It is not a pretty picture and while the book gets melodramatic in places, it does give people a glimpse of what goes on in this type of lawsuit and what drives the participants. I found this to be an interesting read and worthy of recommending.

Summary: Typical Grisham Pulp Fiction
Review: My wife purchased this, otherwise I would not have spent the money. All of Grisham's works are formulaic in nature, this one does not depart from his norm. All of the main characters are completely lacking in morals or ethics and are thus unsympathetic. I am surprised that lawyers don't sue Grisham for his characterization of them, but perhaps it is all too true. One true regret in life is that Grisham cranks them out regularly, while Scott Turrow takes years. This is one of the basic inequities of life.

Summary: Beach Book
Review: If you are looking for a good beach book, "The King of Torts" is on the mark. It is light, fluffy, entertaining and will hook you very quickly. It is also a quick read. Unfortunately, it is not up to the high standards that Grisham has set with his earlier books. I wasn' t sure whether to love or hate the main character, Clay Carter. It was hard to believe that after having such high work standards and low need requirements, that Carter would be so stupid as to get roped into such questionable schemes. I thought the ending was especially weak. Still, it was an eye opener into the world of sleaze-ball tort lawyers and I now understand why tort reform is such a hot topic with politicians.

Summary: Very enjoyable
Review: I really enjoyed this book. I love Grisham's consice writing style. Not filled with too much technical law mumbo jumbo. Great book!

Summary: Best Book In Years From Master Of The Law Novel
Review: Wow! I totally loved this book from JG. To be honest, his latest adventures in writing have not been up to par, but the King of Torts certainly brings him back.

The story deals with a young Public Defender, Clay Carter, who is the son of an Ex-high profile lawyer, and dosen't really have much going on.
Suddenly, a man appears who totally transforms life as he knows it. Pharmaceutical class actions make Clay Carter the new "king of torts" with an estimated $121 million in fees.
What happens with him? Well, you'll have to read to find out, but take it from me, you will enjoy it.

I hope JG keeps 'em coming out if they are of this caliber.

Summary: Quick read
Review: I read many of John Grisham's novels and this one I found to be rather predictable. However, it is a very enjoyable, quick read. Perfect for a vacation read. It isn't close to his best.
