Summary: Where is "the program" -- in his *next* book?
Review: I was very disappointed in this book! I have no doubt that Null has witnessed the success he claims, and I purchased this book because I expected to be able to implement his "program". Given the title of this volume, that did not seem to be unreasonable. Unfortunately, it is never presented! If you comb through the hundreds of poorly organized pages, you will find a few snipets of the program. But that is not enough. OK, Null, you "sold" us on your program...will you give us the details in your next book?!

Summary: Concise information for a society beset with health problem
Review: I have read many of Dr. Null's works, and this one book has culminated his efforts to bring information to the public which will free them to finally be their own physicians and make intelligent choices about lifestyle and health. A must read for those interested in providing maximum health benefits from their hectic and over stressed lives. Through step by step guidance on nutrition and supplements, Dr. Null makes it easy for anyone to understand how to eliminate toxins from the diet, while building the immune and other basic systems of the human body. I highly recommend it.

Summary: rehash/vegetarian slant/minimal new info/rigid program
Review: Not for the masses nor even the average person. Sketchy info with little whys and wherefors except the obvious ie walking. Few of us desire or even need to be marathon runners. Puts out a good bit of statistical info but not much support. Clearly toward vegetarianism. Program eliminates chicken, meat, all dairy, coffee, tea, soda and such. Includes (organic) jucing but at a volume that would be cost prohibitive for even the middle class. I do this now at about $ 8 per day for 2 people. In what field is his PhD?

Summary: Not easy to find the steps to take in the anti-aging program
Review: The majority of the book is testimonials and reference material. These are interesting, but not what the title of the book leads one to expect. There is no concise step-by-step 'program' described in the book. The reader is apparently left to devise his own 'program' based on the anecdotal and descriptive references. The book pretty much boils down to what your mother would tell you - take your vitamins, eat your vegetables, and that apple a day thing. I wanted to read about a 'program', instead I read about other people who had been on the 'program'. I never got a clear sense of what the 'program' is.

Summary: Full of fluff
Review: This book has 498 pages and it would seem at that length it would be packed with good information, and packed it is---with fluff. There are 79 pages of testimonials, 113 pages of appendices, and 130 pages in the chapter, "Is It Possible To Reverse Aging?". In fact, the so-called "protocol," the nucleus and the sole reason I bought this book is contained in 9 points no more than half-a-page long beginning on page 254. There are some inconsistencies in this. In point #8, Null says, "Olive Oil should be used for cooking purposes." Then, on page 270 he says, "And the only oil we should use in cooking is macadamia oil, because it's the only one that is heat stable." Hello? So which is it?

And there are omissions...in the section on grains, Null goes in to detail about the nutritive value of many grains, beginning with Amaranth, Barley, etc. When he gets to corn, he only describes cornmeal and grits. What about corn on the cob? Omission. When he gets to couscous and wild rice, he says absolutely nothing about their nutritional values. Omission.

Then he talks about legumes. He's all over the place. Some legumes are described, others are listed with detail about their nutritional value. No consistency here. E.g., kidney beans. Null says they are probably the most popular bean and can be used in chili and soups and that 1-1/2 cups of dry beans yield 2 cups of cooked beans. And???

Overall, it seems as though Null was behind in the research and writing of this book and had to rush through parts of it in order to meet the publisher's deadline. He was probably short on pages, so included all the testimonials to fluff it up. I have learned a couple of things from this book, but I'm not sure I can believe it all because of the omissions, inconsistencies and contradictions within. I've learned more from Dr. Weil's books and would not purchase any more of Null's books for this reason.

Summary: I feel as though I have relearned the proper way to live.
Review: At the start of the program, I was almost mentally paralyzed. I thought that my career was over. It was a major challenge to change the outlook of my fife. I have may health problems; among the most important were high blood pressure, high cholesterol, enlarged prostate, and hemorrhoids. I was under medical care, and it seemed that treatment was taking me nowhere. I had the belief that for me there was nothing left in life. I was waiting for my Maker to take me away. I reexamined my life. I felt the rush of energy. I restarted my engine. I discovered that there was a life ahead of me. I discovered new interests and I started living again. One of the first things I did with my new burst of energy was start an exercise program. My healthy habits make me lose weight. As I saw my progress, I became more committed to the program. Needless to say, I recuperated my health in every way. I am so amazed that my age, I am accomplishing things that I thought I never would. I thank God for putting me on the right track of good health. I feel that now I am more in touch with myself. I found new purpose in my live and my energy and optimism is spread to others. Friends and relatives see the changes in me and request my advice. One of the biggest obstacles as inside of me. I have procrastinated for so long that it took a monumental effort to get organized and committed. The second obstacle was clutter in every way. I have examined my life and little by little I started uncluttering my mind of preconceived ideas, or unhealthy habits, and of physical clutter. I became less angry and fearful, and when anger and fear stoke me, I've examined my feelings and tried to find out why I was feeling that way. I have forgiven everybody that has hurt me in the past. I understood that the only thing that was hurt was my ego. I have realized that by taming my ego I can free more energy and use it in positive ways. I see myself now and in the future healthy and active, helping other people to reach their goals. I have embarked in new tasks that I never dreamed of. Now I am into biking, camping, and hiking.

Summary: This program has changed my life.
Review: I had a lot of confusion and was pretty depressed. I had also felt alone and disconnected. My house was suffering and my business also, I had the hardest times making decisions. I felt as though I was a pinball with almost no control over things going on around me. All the time this is going on I was a great actor. I tell you, not much fun at all. I was overweight, approximately 195 pounds. No desire to do anything--just go to work, try to do my job, spending more time trying to get out of doing things than actually doing them. My back was in constant pain. I felt bloated. Spiritually, I felt very alone with no place to turn. I was always looking for something, but failed to touch anything. Very mad for no reason. I am no longer depressed. I don't need to talk about how bad life is because now it is great. I have very little trouble making decisions. I was seeing a person to help me. This I started in October. She said many times that in all her years no one had made the progress I had in such a short period of time. I no longer see her. Physically, my shape has changed dramatically. I went from 195 when we started, with no energy, to 160 now. My weight has been stable for about six weeks. I used to wake up every few hours at night. Now I sleep straight through. I guess this is more mental than physical, or maybe a combo of both. I sleep about five hours a night and have more energy than ever. I take the exercise pretty seriously (actually, It's a lot of fun). Before I had all I could do to get off the couch. I would be winded for nothing. Now I ride a bike about forty minutes every day. I have no more back pain and I can button all of my pants. I was listening to the AM station before Christmas and heard Gary mention new programs forming. This is something I felt I needed but was afraid to do. So what I did was just call before I had too much time to talk my way out of it. I tell you, from that first meeting on, every day is better then the day before. I have a cabinet shop and my work is no longer painful. I almost look forward to going. I have recently opened a new business also, and it's been a lifelong dream. I no longer see it as impossible. It is a firework company and I know now I will have no problem seeing this through. At first my family was afraid I was joining a cult. Now I am asked questions on a daily basis. I receive a lot of support. I had no idea life could be this good. I like to help people around me and look forward to doing as much as I can.

Summary: Amazing
Review: Skeptics sprout up like useless herbs in a lazy man's garden. However presumptuous the title I believe that Dr. Null's principles are sound. His prescriptions are balanced in nutrition not only in mineral, vitamin and nutrient, but also the other half of the equation and that is the emotional/spiritual side. I recommend this book, you have but one chance to prove what so many testimonials, honest testimonials have said in regards to this work. I've seen them, I've heard them and I believe them. Dr. Null really has something incredibly positive to offer humanity. It's time to feel good.

Summary: Be fair!
Review: These are my opinions from my own observations.

Watch Gary Null on PBS, especially his "Art of Health" show, he gives away tons of useful, free information. Judging this book based off of some reader's review is no better than judging the book buy it's cover.

It's a mistake to ingore his message just because he can come off as an activist against drug companies but he does has some points. In america we spend billions of dollars on health care each year and yet are we healty? NO. Every 30 seconds someone dies of a heart attack alone. Now let's say you're a medical professional in that trillion dollar buisness.. Of course you're not going to speak out or leave your lucrative job to preach the truth (unless you're passionate about getting the truth out there, even though you know thousands of people will disagree with *some* of the things you say) But most doctors aren't taught nutrition, except maybe how to deal with diabeties or high blood pressure once you already have it! And of course you should be objective and extract what's useful and discard the rest from anyone's message.

So be fair, hear the man out before you decide if he's the real deal or not, but considering 95% of his message is simply about eating mostly raw foods and "right thinking" (which any yogi is taught), I think you'll see his message is positive.
