Summary: Netted in Golden Prose! I think not!
Review: Donn Devereaux Upps's debut novel ought to be his last. There is little positive to be said about this book. Not only is the storyline nonsensical and irregular, the grammar and punctuation of the book are laughably deficient. Indeed, I must wonder if Mr. Upp finished junior high considering the poor grammar and punctuation. In fact, periodic reading of a book or two would have taught him enough English to write better than this poor showing. Take, for example, the following quote from the book:
She crossed over and lit the gas fireplace and flipped off the lights.
"You don't waist any time." He told her as she started tying up his hands to the wood bedpost.

The spelling and punctuation are all the author's. Poor punctuation and grammar abound. One more example should suffice.

"That's funny the way he talked it was you that made him that way not me. With my help, he'll be good as knew."

Mr. Upp's book is published by iUniverse.com. If such poor writing and absolute lack of publishing responsibility is what can be expected from internet and electronic publishing companies then I fear for the book industry. This book- and the publisher it represents- is an affront to the publishing industry and to intelligent readers everywhere.

Summary: Very imaginative!
Review: The Murderess of Ridge Cliff Manor was a great start to Mr. Upp's career. I enjoyed this book and it's story line. I could barely put it down. I just couldn't wait to see what would happen next. I look forward to reading more murder mysteries in the near future from this author.
