Rating: Summary: DON?T BELIEVE THE HYPE!!! Review: As a lover of the horror genre, I was thrilled to see a new horror book by someone that didn't have the last name King, Koontz or Saul. I chose this book based on the reviews I saw on the web site, and boy was I sorry. DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE!!! This book has too many tired ideas and stories that go nowhere. From now on I will stick with writers with the last name King, Koontz or Saul. At least I know I will be getting good (if not great) stories to read!...
Rating: Summary: BUY THIS BOOK!!!! Review: Brian Keene is absolutely one of the hottest new writers in the field of Horror today. He is one of those rare writers that loves the field and it shows in each of these stories. NO REST ... is really an incredibly good read from cover to cover. It *WILL* keep you up all night reading. I personally blew through the book in one sitting--each story was that intense that I had to know what the next one was like.YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!
Rating: Summary: All Hail the King of Gangsta Horror Review: Brian Keene's debut is amazing. Strong knowledge of craft and a decidedly different approach to many of the genres trapping provide a fresh new read.
Rating: Summary: No Rest For The Wicked: Don't Rest 'Til You've Read It All Review: Brian Keene's debut short story collection "No Rest For The Wicked" is a can't-put-down, must-read. I bought this book after hearing Keene read live at a convention. His intense energy coupled with his no-nonsense, in-your-face style left me wanting more. So I grabbed "No Rest" and plowed through it in one night. The novella "Earthworm Gods" and the short "That Which Lingers" stayed with me long after I put the book down. If you're looking for stories written with passion and intensity, this is the collection for you.

Rating: Summary: Hail 'Saten' a.k.a Brian Keene Review: I liked Brian "Saten" Keene's stories so much that I wanted them to be longer, and this is the only reason I gave the book four stars. He has a clear voice, a distinctive in-your-face style, and original ideas. For someone who says he never went to college, he writes more intelligently than some graduates I know.
Rating: Summary: No Rest After Reading Brian Keene Review: No Rest for the Wicked is a great introduction to the short fiction of Brian Keene. From his first published story, "The Sleepwalker," to his more recent "A Darker Shade of Winter," No Rest For The Wicked showcases Keene's range as a writer. Many familiar themes make their way into this collection: the living dead in "Hunting Season" and raising Hell in "Caught in a Mosh." But don't let this fool you--Keene goes beyond the triteness, and most of these stories stay with you long after the first reading. Reminiscent of Stephen King's early works, "Earthworm Gods" is the standout piece, a must read for any serious horror fan.
Rating: Summary: Stories You Can Read In A Night Review: Okay, so it took me a while to actually read this one. I had purchased it some time ago, but at the time I had treated it as a collectors edition and put it on the shelf with the others. My limited editions of F. Paul Wilson, Peter Straub, Stephen King, Clive Barker, what have you. It did not take me a while to read, however, because the stories were bad, or because I was not curious and excited to see what Keene had done, but because I am not an avid short story reader. Well, now that I have read No Rest For The Wicked, and was able to get through the whole thing in the space of one night (actually, I had to. I wanted to see what each next story was like.) I am a reformed man. I will certianly have to turn my eye to short stories a little more often now. A very pleasurable read. I recomend reading it in the way that I did, too. Not from front to back in the order with which the author has arranged the stories, but from earliest to most recent creations. You can actually see the writer grow and progress in style and content. And that in itself is a thrill. Christopher Treagus is a writer and reviewer for the feoamante web site.
Rating: Summary: Same Old Stories Review: The only part of Regina Mitchell's review I agree with is that Mr. Keene's writing closely resembles that of an early Stephen King. I would like to see new horror writers develop their own style, which this author has not. And correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Regina Mitchell co-author (with Mr. Keene) "Under Her Black Wings?" How can we take her review seriously when she is so obviously biased? Can we see more reviews from the average reader (like myself) and not co-authors and friends of the author?
Rating: Summary: A good debut from a future powerhouse Review: Yes, there are places where the author stumbles, but this is still hands down the best debut I've read in years. Well worth it.
