Rating: Summary: Quite an intriguing book Review: I actually was given the opportunity to read the manuscript itself of this novel since I know Mr. Johansson personally. Being a reader with a rather high standard concerning the material I choose to read, I must say that this story went straight to my heart. Here, you are able to learn about the dramatic life of a man whose religious beliefs scare him to the degree at which he sees no other way out than to change his life around entirely. The extent to which he tried to do the things he had to endeavor were so intriguing that I found it hard not to truly feel for the man. Just when I thought I had become comfortable with the ending, it altogether swept me off my feet. Do yourself a favor and pick up a copy today.
Rating: Summary: Faith, love and devotion! Review: I saw no other option but to read this novel after that I had read the book decription. Finishing it rather quick, I must say that it was quite an enjoyable reading. Perhaps I should say suspenseful reading as well as eduacting. Beginning with a complex explanation of the two main characters, Mr. Johansson later involved a new way of thinking about the two concepts, good and evil. Taking me on a journey across this country, Mr. Johansson told a story of faith, love and devotion. As another reader put it, "the ending threw me completely off and still has me wondering. Do yourself a favor, and pick up a copy.
Rating: Summary: Up There With The Rest! Review: I understand from my broad knowledge of contemporary writers along with reading about Mr. Johansson that WHEN THE DOORS CLOSE is his first novel. However, I hope it is not the last. This is a masterpiece. Ranks right up there with legendary stories such as "It" and "The Right Hand of Evil." In spite of Mr. Johansson speaking another tongue than us Americans, he does very well in getting the job done in English. Aside from telling a story about the wicked underground world, Mr. Johansson also gives a heartwarming example of how highly important both friendship and love intelligibly are. If you are a sucker for thorough descriptions, this is the book for you. However, for those of us who simply enjoy a good book, this is the right avenue to chose as well. What originally influenced me to pick up a copy of WHEN THE DOORS CLOSE was the highly attractive and frightening cover along with reading the intriguing book description. If it is not up yet here, then just wait until you see it! For now, I impatiently await another equally superb novel from Mr. Johansson. Scott P.
