Rating: Summary: Both Amazing and Colossal Review: As an A/V Librarian, many books on film go past my desk. Of late, there has been a glut of books on the Horror film. Some have been great. Some insipid. Some political propaganda masquerading as film books. Some merely esoteric or academic. But a good popular or general book on the subject has been rare. Indeed, since the death of William K. Everson, the form has been almost completely moribund. No longer. With AMAZING COLOSSAL, Mr. Lampley and associates have unleashed a book pretending to be a mere trivia book(and a good one at that)but, once unmasked, stand revealed as an excellent introduction and history of the Horror Film. Besides the quizes-some easy, some hard, all intriquing even to the non-horror fan, the book includes chapters on all of the Important moments and figures of Horror. The book is so well constructed that it becomes a true learning experience-almost a textbook on horror. Want to learn about Lionel Atwell or Richard Matheson? You will. AMAZING COLOSSAL enlightens, ennobles and entertains. A fine book. A fun book. And ladies, if you have a son or husband who loves Horror movies and don't know what to get him for Christmas, this one is a no brainer. An excellent gift. Highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: they stumped me Review: I thought I knew a lot about horror films, but when I read this book I realized I have a lot more to learn. I was frequently stumped, though on a few occasions I disagreed with their answers. There seems to be a lot of concentration on horror pre-1970, especially vampires, and though I would've enjoyed more modern questions, I can appreciate how this serves as a history book as well.
Rating: Summary: The penultimate reference for horror film buffs. Review: Over a thousand questions and answers about the best and worst horror films ever made fill the pages of an intriguing book which is packed with trivia information. Horror film buffs will find Amazing, Colossal Book of Horror Trivia an involving, fun book.

Rating: Summary: Not enough information Review: This is just a list of 1,000+ questions about a limited number of horror movies, with answers on the next page. I guess you're supposed to ask them at parties or something for "hours of fun." The questions are certainly trivial -- eliciting a response of "who cares" rather than "isn't that fascinating" -- and it is tedious to constantly turn to the next page to find the answers. It felt a good deal like reviewing for a 5th grade geography test. Thousands of facts are available, but many are perfectly useless and utterly dull, so why devote a book to them? If the goal of this book is to spark interest in the films or in the horror genre, it has utterly failed. My copy is going into the garbage.
