Summary: For zombie completists only
Review: Before zombies were known to be flesh-eaters, the were more commonly associated with voodoo. In this classic pulp schlocker from l979, slow-moving "voodoo" zombies attack a crew with machetes. Hugh Cave throws in an offbeat political sub-plot which seems weird even in this underground yarn. For die-hard zombie completists only!

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: minor zombie novel
Review: This is as much a political novel about the attempt to overthrow the dictatorship of a Caribbean country as it is a novel about zombies and voodoo. An American writer visiting the country of San Marlo becomes caught up in a revolutionary movement to overthrown the repressive government, which carries out killings and kidnappings with the help of a zombie army. While it is a decent read, there really aren't enough details about politics or voodoo to make this novel special. Recommended for those who don't like their horror novels with gallons of gore.
