Summary: Another excellent, suspenseful page-turner !
Review: Dr. Eric Najarian is a rising star at White Memorial Hospital. He and a colleague are vying for a big promotion, when suddenly Eric is approached to join a secret society ("Caduceus") as long as he is willing to perform an "unusual" treatment when asked. Pressures of the job and life in general weigh on Eric as he debates what to do. Soon, some missing bodies and other unexplained phenomenon at the hospital shake his trust in everything and send him on a hunt for what is going on. We readers get to know more than he does for quite a while, but we dare say few will guess who the ultimate bad guys wind up being.

This is our fourth novel by Palmer and we have enjoyed them all immensely. Sort of a "thinking man's Robin Cook", Palmer happens to be both a medical and publishing contemporary of Cook -- but to our mind, one with less "fantastic" plots. Palmer's ability to endear his characters to us, to draw out the suspense without getting boring, and to craft a twisty plot lead to hours of entertainment. Enjoy! [p.s., the movie based on this book is also entertaining, but in actuality bears little resemblance to the Palmer story per se...]

Summary: Extremely Good!
Review: Eric Najarian is a brilliant doctor who is up for a big promotion but something strange is going on at White Memorial Hospital that begins with a woman coming into town trying to find her brother. Sound interesting? I really enjoyed Extreme Measures. It has a good mixture of suspense and character development. I only gave it 4 stars because sometimes you can get lost in all that is going on. You need to really pay attention at the beginning of the book. Nevertheless, Extreme Measures was extremely good and I highly recommend it.

Summary: More than meets the eye?
Review: I read this book about two years ago. It is well written although I thought it "jumped around a lot." The characters were well rounded and the premise plausible. I work in the medical field and have enjoyed all of Mr. Palmer's offerings. There is nothing vague or ambiguous about this book.

I would like to hear from anyone who has seen the movie made from this book. I hope I'm not the only one who sees no connection whatsoever between the two. Perhaps someone knows why?

Summary: Michael Palmer: An Specialist! Of what? Read and discover!
Review: If you've seen the movie based on this book, just don't think about it: buy and read this book. You'll see that the book is lots better than the movie. They changed the plot almost completely - Hollywood is terrible sometimes - and when you read the book, the first thing you realize in fact are two: the book is wonderful and Michael Palmer is a wonderful writer.

This book especifically, as are all his works, are full of twists, investigation, hatred, emotion, action, adventure, suspense and everything else you expect from this kind of reading.

Writing about Michael Palmer is almost impossible to separate him from Robin Cook, another incredible writer. And I have to say, this book is much better than many Cooks (though I don't doubt a single second how wonderful Cook is). After you finish reading this book, the sensation you get is that you've read a very well-written and one of the best medical thrillers ever. And, I must warn ya: Michael Palmer is a specialist. He knows exactly how to entertain you and how to give you what you want from his books. If there's one feeling that don't show up when you finish reading one of his books is regret. Read his books and you'll know why. He's just incredible!

Marco Aurelio.

Summary: A suspense thiller, full of murder, deceit, and a little love.
Review: Michael Palmer's "Extreme Measures": From start to finish, Mr. Palmer's book kept me interested. The characters were well-developed, plot easy to follow, and the story full of suspense. The main characters, a doctor and scuba dive instructor, fall in love despite the terrible occurences at White Memorial where doctor Najarian works. Friends turn out to be enemies, possible enemies turn out to be friends (sometimes), and it seems that neither can trust anyone but each other and themselves. This book has a lot of medical jargon and some voodoo. I find that if I can read a book in one day, then it is worth reading again. I read this book in about 9 hours in a car so it is definitely worth your time

Summary: More than meets the eye?
Review: The plot is really quite silly and almost totally implausable. The characters are neither very interesting nor well developed. Still, the book kept me going to the contrived trick ending.

More narrow escapes and deus ex machinas, and I never heard so many people crying, "pleeease". I'm surprised they didn't contrive a way to save Laura's long-lost brother. Just about all the other good guys got saved. It's not fair now is it?

Just a few, out of many many logic questions: how did that zombie farm get a no fly-over agreement? how come nobody thought to bury the bodies of the two people killed at the beginning? What happened to the cancer cure?

Laura's brother, zombified, half-dead, still managed to continuously beat up whole packs of armed and dangerous baddies...

Say, now that I think of it, I'd like to change my rating from 3 to a 2.

Summary: Very Good
Review: This book was thrilling and very interesting. I have read lots of Mystery/Thrillers but not relating to anything to do with the medical business. Well written and one of the books I couldn't wait to finish to find out what would happen. Characters were good and it was easy to follow with no confusion of who is who. Sometimes there are too many characters and it can get a little confusing. I do recommend this to someone looking for a good thriller.

Summary: AWESOME!
Review: This is an outstanding book. This is the first book that I've read by Michael Palmer, and I plan to read a lot more. I can't say enought good thigs about this book. What an ending! It was fast paced, and just a thrill to read! I highly suggest you read this book. If you were like me, you won't be abled to put it down. Happy Reading.

Summary: Extreme Measures
Review: This is not the first Michael Palmer book that I have read, but it certainly is the best one so far. The plot, though complex and intricate, was thrilling to the last page. The characters were well developed and the plot facinating. I found it almost impossible to put the book down, and was holding my breath for Eric and Laura to the very end. For a fast read, and a thrilling adventure, select Extreme Measures.
