Rating: Summary: Not your typical werewolf novel Review: Although the book has an interesting setting, the plot and character development are rather lackluster. Although the book has a decidedly unique plot and view of the werewolf, the majority of the book has an inconsistent writing style and characters that are easy to forget.
Rating: Summary: It was absolutey remarkable. Very detailed and graphic. Review: I first read this book when I was fifteen. I'm 27 now and have been trying to find a copy of this for the past 12 years. This is a great choice for and audio tape. It kept me on the edge of my seat. Everyone wanted to sit and hear me read chapter after chapter. It was so detailed, I still get a mental picture of this book. I believe it should be republished and like I said earlier, it would make an exceptional audio release. I can't wait to get my copy.
Rating: Summary: Wonderfuly Vivid! Review: I HAD A HARD TIME PUTTING THIS BOOK DOWN. MR. WOOD OFFERS UP A GREAT HORROR NOVEL, BRANCHING OFF IN DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS SO YOU'RE NEVER QUIET SURE WHO IS THE KILLER. I WOULD LOVE TO READ MORE BOOKS BY THIS AUTHOR, BUT DON'T KNOW WHERE TO FIND THEM. ALSO I WOULD LOVE TO SEE THIS BOOK MADE INTO A MOVIE!

Rating: Summary: Poetic, But Predictable Review: This was a very frustrating book -- at times, the author waxed poetic in describing characters and nature, at others, individuals appear and die without the reader understanding what role they served in the narrative. The basic plot is pretty predictable: man meets woman at wedding of her sister; sister and new husband vanish; husband's body (dismembered) found; search for killer; sex between man and woman (this scene just happens and the word 'love' is used very quickly by these characters); more people ripped to shreds; personal revelations, etc. The author goes in several directions at once in terms of what the whole story means, and in most cases, I figured out exactly what was going to happen before it did. The ending was disturbing on many levels, and I found myself reading a few paragraphs twice in disbelief -- to me, some of the characters' motivations had no basis in reality...or unreality, as the case may be. Was it diverting? Briefly. Was it worth my time? Still debating that one. Would I read another book by Jack Woods? Maybe...I would at least start it.
Rating: Summary: Fun B-movie type book, nothing more. Review: Wolffile brought to mind all those wonderfully cheesy movies Roger Corman and American International Pictures made, it has the same kind of simplistic yet interesting plot liberally sprinkled with sex and grue.SomeTHING (aka a Werewolf) is killing people on an isolated island of the coast of Maine. Prodigal Dr. Ian Saunders tries to get to the bottom of the mystery while falling in love with Maeve, the beautiful daughter of a wealthy summer family that has just lost its youngest child and her groom to the fanged menace. The plot moves briskly and there are some well written moments sprinkled amongst all the hammy overwriting. A tighter rewrite and this book may have been something a little better. As it is Wolffile is just a mildly entertaining rainy afternoon time waster.
