Summary: Endophyte Endofight Endoflight
Review: 'Grave Images', by Author N.D. Hansen-Hill contains multiple lines of thought that make it difficult to restrict the novel to a specific genre. There is high tech biological research, corporate interference of the lethal sort, and spiritual events that are either helpful or horrific, and then there is the Art. There are also wraiths both carbon-based and those of the otherworldly variety. And to finish off the tale is a neat twist of an ending.

Books that include the dark sides of terror, wraiths, demons, and others are generally not the books I read. That is not a comment on the genre, rather a point in fact. I did read this book from end to end and I have another by the same Author I will be reading. He has published a number of works, so if you find yourself enjoying what he writes you will have plenty to choose from.

There were two aspects of the book that I want to mention. The first is a general statement. When the normal every day world we call reality clashes with what is as far from normal as is possible, the story often is taken over by the extra-normal. This book contained much content that virtually everyone would call terrifying, however the characters that were affected dealt with the events as opposed to being paralyzed by them. I also enjoyed much of the dialogue. There is a passage when a Priest is being brought to a locale for an Exorcism and the banter between him and his accomplice is a riot.

The primary character of Jarron is victimized and permanently altered mentally by the attack. The tale that follows is his coping with the new knowledge his damaged mind can access, and the cold logical mind of the scientist he remains.

As I mentioned, this genre is not what I typically read, but I do plan on continuing with this man's work.

Summary: Highly recommended
Review: Mycologist Jarron Marshall submits a grant proposal for endophytes that promote plant growth and could possibly confer some degree of insect resistance, without poisoning livestock. Industry dependent upon insecticides and fertilizers take note, and determines to stop him either by buying him and his research or stopping it. But when they send an evil man to beat Jarron into agreement, the subsequent brain damage gives Jarron unusual gifts. Suddenly he possess clairvoyant and precognitive gifts, in addition to the ability to see spirits.

Regardless of how his gifts came about, Jarron holds himself accountable for the consequences. He intends to find a way to control whatever is inside him and to protect those he cares about. Friends come to his aid, including a mysterious magician gifted in corporate espionage, a mathematician with a few best sellers to his credit, and a lady thief affectionately called The Wraith. As Jarron fights to protect his scientific research he finds himself equally embattled to protect himself and others from his visions of grave images.

Author ND Hanson creates a fascinating cross-genre novel that will keep reader's attention fixed and tension levels high with GRAVE IMAGES. The mixture of thriller, intrigue and paranormal results in an eclectic read where readers will do well to read with the lights on. Not all readers will like this dialogue-laden novel, however, finding the flow somewhat choppy and challenging to follow. But readers ready for the unusual and the dynamic will find these vivid characterizations and the fast paced plot addictive. The overall effect results in a read that comes highly recommended.
