Rating: Summary: Good, but could've been better. Review: I'm a big fan of Kakinouchi's work, both manga and illustrations. So naturally I was eager to get this artbook. It's a pity that it didn't turn out as good as it was supposed to be.First, the artwork is old and doesn't look as polished or pretty as her recent stuff. But that's not a problem really if you're a fan of hers and want to see and collect her art. The illustrations are mostly from her 'Vampire Princess Miyu' manga. More obscure works like 'Dahlia', 'The Wanderer', and 'Yui' also appear. Plus a few images from her more shoujo manga. My real gripe is with the quality of the illustrations themselves. Now I could be wrong since I haven't seen the Japanese version of this artbook, but the pics seemed 'pale' and looked as if they were clearly re-produced from the originals. I own several Japanese artbooks and none of them look like this US version of Kakinouchi's artbook. Second, the binding and cover. The binding of this book makes it difficult to fully open the book and view the pages without bending the outer cover in half or chance ripping the pages out. That's a big no-no when concerning artbooks. The outer cover itself while not being what is called 'Hardcover', isn't exactly helping. It's somewhat stiff and won't bend either. I suppose this artbook's saving grace is the translated interview with Kakinouchi Narumi, and the translated footnotes at the illustration index at the end. *sighs* My advice? If you really want to get it, buy the Japanese version.
Rating: Summary: BEAUTIFUL! Review: I'm in love with the creator of Vampire Princess Miyu's artwork! It's amazing what she can do with a brush and water colour. The feelings of the characters especially of Miyu's affection toward Larva is apparent in this artbook. This artbook contains manga and anime from the series. <3
