Review: In the days after the Civil War when the South was struggling to get back on it's feet, the mountain people were drawing closer together in their world which had changed little. Poverty and hardship had always been their way of life. In these 17 short stories, we read of superstitions that guided their existence, and how murder could and did go undetected. These are stories people coping with life the only way they have ever known.Don't be surprised if you find yourself looking over your shoulder at that unexpected noise, or wondering if that old lady watching you is giving you the "evil" eye.

Review: Night Voices is a group of Appalacian folk tales handed down through the generations. They depict a time just after the Civil War set amidst the hard life of the unsettled mountain country in a world of superstition, black magic and lawlessness. A frightening read!
