Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Entertaining But Provocative
Review: This is a well-written novel that escapes any limiting classification. It should appeal to aficionados of sci-fi and fantasy, but its straightforward story line also suggests some plausible answers to profound questions: Was there really a Fall of Man and angels, like Lucifer and his cohorts? How could a loving God permit such things? Or is God really loving? Do angels guide us now? Do the "fallen" stalk and plague us? Are we guided by spirits? Is reincarnation real?
Mattie Brahen weaves such subjects into the very average life--mortal life--of her heroine, a divorced single-mother. I've heard this book described as a "background story depicting the Creation myths of our Age." I think it does much more than merely "depict." It integrates the beliefs of many cultures while offering a cogent and very intelligent interpretation of those myths. Well worth the read!
