Summary: I loved this book!
Review: Being a fan of the horror genre (and of vampires in particular), I am always searching for new authors to read that hold my interest.
Well, I certainly found that in Blood Worship.
The plot jerks you in and you can't put it down until the thrilling, exciting ending. I swear, my pulse was racing the entire time I was reading this book. It was that engrossing.
The vampire was truly frightening, and I really got inside the heads of some of the characters. I recommend this book to anyone.
And I hope this author writes something else, soon, because I love her work.

Summary: The Modern Day Gothic Vampire
Review: Blood Worship is a vampire story set in the hot and steamy climes of Florida. It centres around the teen goth culture and you could at first be forgiven for feeling that Sang Adorer is just another crazed psychopath with sanguinarian tendencies......but as Barbara Mack reveals in shocking detail he is the "real deal".

Jessie Hartwell is not your typical embodiment of the media perception of a goth, having dealt with her mothers tragic and grisly demise she is well equipped for the final showdown with Sang Adorer and his minions.

This tale takes you through the standard vampire mythologies and is fast paced running rapidly into the showdown where the speed slows to create a frisson of tension as you enter the house that has been transformed into a temple of bloodlust.

To say more would be to give away the plot of the book but if you are looking for an entertaining, slightly risqué vampire tale to fill your time with this one should amply suffice.

Summary: Listen to the Voices in your head
Review: Entertaining and a fun read.
A mystery/horror story, Jessie is a college aged girl trying to make her way through life after her mother dies and her friends drop like flies.
The dialogue between Jessie and her deceased mother is very entertaining. Her mother guides her from the afterlife as Jessie winds her way through a madman's maze, meeting unsavory characters and losing friends to a hedonistic vampire.
While there are an abudance of characters, each has a place and function within the plot.
I read this book in one sitting, following the twisted killer as he toyed with Jessie and her friends. Heart thumping, breath pausing good.

Summary: Blood Worship
Review: Jessica Hartwell was just an average college student. Her everyday life was carefree and filled with her studies, her family, and her friends. Then, suddenly Jessica's life changed forever. First, Jessica's mother dies in a senseless, ritualized murder. The police believe Jessica's mother had been part of some sort of drug activity gone wrong. Jessica, knowing her mother's opinion on drug use, doubts this hypothesis. Next, several of Jessica's classmates begin to act strangely, going to bizarre gothic blood drinking parties and taking drugs. Then, people start to disappear.

Blood Worship is a chilling vampire thriller. The story is full of action with enough twists and turns to make the book a page-turner. The characters are very well developed and genuine. A number of different personalities and lifestyles are explored during the course of this story. However, all of these personalities and lifestyles are well thought out, well researched, and appropriately described. I felt that the author even managed to disprove some common stereotypes making the characters all the more realistic and the story that much more chilling.

Summary: Entertaining Read!
Review: Jessie Hartwell is a modern Gothic college girl living in beautiful sunny Florida with her full life ahead of her. Then suddenly her mother is murdered, Jessie begins having strange visions, and her friends begin dying. A predator is terrorizing the nightlife of Fort Myers, FL. A horrific, bloodthirsty Vampire who is after Jessie's life. BLOOD WORSHIP is an entertaining read packed with action and suspense. Author Barbara Mack has created a cast of characters that are each different and intriguing in their own ways. Vampire lovers young and old will enjoy this fast paced modern day novel of the undead.

Summary: Jessie Hartwell was just a normal college girl...
Review: No, she isn't. She wears a Gothic dress to shock people, she hears voices inside her head and she goes to beach parties for fun. Her mother was killed and her friends start to die one by one. Her enemy is a vampire. A Master Vampire who doesn't seem to know anything about keeping a low profile. He turns drug dealers into vampires, making them into his followers and at the same time making a profit. Of course, he also rapes and kills a lot of people. All this crime and death brings the cops in like flies to a corpse and gives me the impression that the head vampire is an idiot. Gamera or Godzilla would of drawn less notice! The ending is somewhat anti-climactic and, in fact, very boring.
This is my second try at writing a review for this book. I guess the first never made it for some reason so I toned this one down a tad. Bottom line - book is a waste of money, buy 'Blood Legacy: the Story of Ryan' or 'green trees' or even something by Laurell K. Hamilton.

Summary: Classic Horror meets Goth Underground in Florida
Review: This is not the usual type of vampire novel that I come into contact with, I am more the Anne Rice/Laurell Hamilton type not the vampire is a monster, horror type. Although, I found this to be an entertaining horror/mystery. The story is a about a girl named Jessie. She has recently lost her mother to a horrible murder and as the book opens she loses her best friend the same way. The police suspect her so Jessie becomes determined to find out what is really going on. Jessie quickly finds herself in for more than she bargained for, for there is a supernatural killer loose. Sang Adorer (Blood Worship) is his name and he is killing at random. I assume he is an old powerful vampire (we are never told much about him). Jessie does have some power on her side her dead mother visits, and helps her. The things I didn't like about the novel is that the characterazation is poor, I never identified with any of the characters (there were so many victims that were introduced quickly and then killed) and we never find out anything about Sang Adorer. There is a lack of detail in this novel. Although, the plot is fairly good and it reads well and quickly. It did keep me interested enough to finish. It would be a great, quick weekend read.

Summary: A great beginning in the genre
Review: Vampire books are a dime a dozen at the moment, and I do believe that Barbara Mack is going to make her mark (no pun intended). This book isn't very long and though some of the characters seem a bit wooden (another pun not intended), the way she draws the reader into the lives of the vampire's victims is fascinating. Usually in a book, the victim is only a victim, a part of story, but they are completely real individuals in this one. Jessie's mother is a very vivid character, and I think she makes the book. The book leaves a lot of questions, not the least of which is where Jessie gets her powers, but I think I'm going to leave Ms. Mack room to grow. The book kept me interested enough to read it in one sitting, so try it out!
