Review: Butterfly House - this Eppie and Independent Publishers Book Award winner is filled with icy horror.
Two very different and incompatible people, Jackson Rutledge and Sabrina Osterling, saw the ad for the haunted house and arrived separately at the same time at the Realtor's. As neither could afford the house on their own, but determined to own the house described as "musty, dusty, and guaranteed haunted", they agreed to co-purchase the house.
They believed that living in separate wings and sharing the common area of the main portion of the house they could live independently. However, when
unexplained things begin to happen they have to turn to each other.

Do you believe a house could be a living thing?
Most people would not, but those who have gotten to know the Hanley House would insist that the house was not only alive, but also a thing of fathomless evil. A voracious evil that lives to destroy, distorting perceptions, waiting patiently for someone. The man and woman living in the house now, however, are not the awaited ones; they don't belong and are a threat to it. Do Jackson and Sabrina have a chance against such evil? Not if the house's history is any indication.

Summary: Butterfly House Promises But Disappoints
Review: I read every glittering review, thinking wow this book must really be worth $20. Unfortunately, that was not the case. The prologue was very promising, but immediately after that it changed its tone and became just another mainstream novella. The two main characters are sketched out only slightly, and there's not enough description of the house, events or ancillary characters to keep it interesting. By Chapter 14, more than 1/2-way through the book, I kept waiting for something to happen. If you want a good old-fashioned scare, stick to the master of the genre, Steven King. I will be selling this book on Amazon to try to recover some of the money I wasted on this book.

Review: Jackson Rutledge and Sabrina Osterling are total strangers but an ad in a newspaper for a house "musty, dusty, and guaranteed haunted" sends them both rushing to the real estate office. Both have their own personal reasons for their interest in the house. Jackson's easy going personality instantly makes him a likable character. He doesn't believe in ghosts but sees the House as the perfect setting for his future plans. Sabrina is different, weird, more aggressive and obsessed with the past. Her belief in the supernatural has brought her to the House for answers. But the House has other plans for Jackson and Sabrina.

Time is the essence in The Butterfly House. T.K. Sheils will spook and horrify you with his story line and picture-painting description. You will realize just how precious time is and yet how we all take the present for granted. The evil of The Butterfly House will grip you, pull you in, and glue you to your seat while scaring you beyond belief.

Review: T. K. Sheils is a master of horror. BUTTERFLY HOUSE is very well written tale of horror with tons of chills and scares without the gore of some stories. Touches of humor and wit spice up the story, and the two main characters work brilliantly together as reluctant housemates and victims of terror. Full of suspense and mystery, this book had me turning page after page, racing towards the conclusion. No wonder this was the first ebook to ever win the coveted Independent Publisher Award. I would highly recommend BUTTERFLY HOUSE to any horror fan. Terrifying!!
