Summary: Good idea, but . . .
Review: From the reviews, I hoped for an engaging story. However, this is mediocre high-school level writing. Among other things, the narrative is stilted and choppy, there is no character development, and there has obviously been no editing. The only reason I gave it 2 stars is because of evidence of research and creative ideas. Take some writing classes, La Ertes! You've got good ideas, but you don't have a clue what to do with them! This is the first time I've been so badly led astray by Amazon reader reviews!

Summary: Horra/Thrilla
Review: I just love the new genre that LaErtes has created called Horra/Thrilla. His first book, Evolve - An Anthology of Horra/Thrilla, showed me there is a new Storyteller on the seen. His latest released novel, Manawydan, caught me totally off guard with his storytelling improvements. I'm Liking it! I'm Liking it a Lot! This storyteller's star is on the rise so keep your eyes on "LaErtes, the King of Horra/Thrilla!"

Review: I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!!! I'M ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE WHO READ OFTEN, AT LEAST FOUR BOOKS A MONTH. I LOVE A GOOD BOOK THAT I CAN PUT MYSELF INTO, WHERE I CAN ACTUALLY MEET AND KNOW EACH PERSON BEING WROTE ABOUT. THIS BOOK WILL KEEP YOU AT THE EDGE OF YOU SEAT. IT WILL BRING ALL EMOTIONS OUT OF A PERSON. IT MAKES YOU HAPPY, MAD, AND SAD AND WANNA TEAR SOMEONE'S HEAD OFF!!!! LaErtes IS A WRITER TO LOOK FOR IN THE FUTURE.

Summary: Couldn't put it down
Review: I loved this book. This is the LaErtes's second published work. This man is someone to keep your eye on. His writing style is clean and to the point. Its exciting, thought provoking, fun, scary and at times heart warming. I highly recomend this book. It kicks butt. I also recomend his first book Evolve.

Summary: Manawydan
Review: I must say that "Manawydan", by LaErtes is the most enjoyable read for me in quite a while. It is a clever blend of factual history, page turning drama, humor, and a soul wrenching recounting of the dreaded slave ship tales of horror, all uniquely crafted into a modern horror/science fiction genre-
Very chilling! This is a smartly developed novel and you owe it to yourself to enjoy "Manawydan" as soon as you can-

Summary: A WINNER!
Review: I was impressed with LaErtes' ability to create several threads and tie them all together in the end. I felt that all of his characters and all of the ideas that surfaced earlier in the novel were accounted for by the last chapter.

Manawydan has addressed important issues and suggested a solution, i.e., forgiveness. This places the book on a higher level.

The characters were well developed. LaErtes gives sufficient history to make each one three dimensional. Even Char and Bri came to life, and I deeply felt for them in the end. Also, using them as the means to enlighten Mason, et al. about the situation on the ship was a good move.

Weaving the tragic history of slavery, which is far worse than most people today realize, into the text of the novel is excellent. The chapters where LaErtes describes Gorée Island and life on a slave ship feel a bit like a history book. And the passages at the Queen's Ball Gala may be too graphic for mainstream fiction.

Overall, MANAWYDAN was an EXCELLENT read. I give LâErtes two thumbs up!

LaErtes will soon be a force on the literary scene.

Summary: He's no Stephen King
Review: LaErtes is most definitely no S.K., who is a 1 of a kind. However, LaErtes is without a doubt, "The King of Horra/Thrilla", and that also makes him a 1 of a kind. His first novel, "Evolve", was ok, as far as 1st books go. But, "Manawydan", now this book is a different journey all together and told in a much more matured style of storytelling - almost as if a different writer wrote it. Only after reading the 4 novella books in Evolve, and then reading Manawydan, could I tell the same person penned all 5 books. His writing signature is all about the words he chooses not to use. His Horra/Thrilla genre, and storytelling style is unique only to him. Manawydan gave me chills; it made me sad, mad, hopeful, happy, and frightened. I laughed out loud, I cried, and the ending released me with a surprise. I had no idea how he was going to tie all those threads together. I can usually figure out where a story is going, but LaErtes lets you think you know, and then takes you places you never thought of. LaErtes' growth, as a storyteller from one story to the next, from Evolve to Manawydan is phenomenal. And at his ".US" website, he previews a massive list, with teasers of future stories. I clearly see movie deals in his future, and many, many, many more "Horra/Thrilla" stories to entertain us.

There is a NEW Horror, Suspense, Thriller, Mystery, Fantasy, and Sci-Fi Storyteller for us to embrace.

"All ABOARD!"

Summary: Manawydan is The S-_-!
Review: Man what a story! Fact, Fiction, then scary to boot. WOW!
LaErtes has a one of a kind approach to storytelling and his imagination is "Off The Hook." You really feel for the characters in Manawydan and what they go through. This book is like, "Roots" vs "Frankenstein", as told by LaErtes. Man, this dude keeps getting better with each story.
