Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Outstanding!
Review: With Darkwood, David Brianza has accomplished a fabulous return to the long forgotten art of the well-written, riveting gothic tale. This is such a great read you will find yourself immersed wholly in the world of the `ill house.' The author's astute use of language enables the reader to see and feel Darkwood Manor & its protagonists in all of their creepy glory. Brianza's characters will easily translate to either the small or big screen and I am hopeful the lead character Blair Alden will make future literary appearances - much like the main character Robert Langdon of Dan Brown's The Davinci Code and Angels & Demons. Brown's Langdon character may be somewhat of a brainy every-man, but Brianza's Alden is grittier and a more subtly romantic persona, which gives him the potential to become the hot ticket to a series of neo-gothic best sellers. Get yourself a copy of Darkwood on a Friday because you'll definitely be up all night with this one!
