Rating: Summary: Not a good read. Review: Boy, I thought I would like this book. I WANTED to like this book, but by chapter seven, I still didn't care about any of the characters. The hero came off as an opportunistic, mean spirited jerk. The fact that Christine just couldn't seem to resist him only gave support to my belief that the character was as dumb as she was weak. I also couldn't make myself accept her mindless obsession with her step brother. For more than two thirds of the book it seemed to be based on nothing more than the fact that she thought he made nice eye candy, all the while admitting that she didn't think he was a very nice guy. This left me with the feeling that the romance just sprang out of nowhere. It seemed forced and out of place. Also, I just couldn't suspend my disbelief enough to accept her going to such great lenghts to find the father that she'd had no relationship with for many years. Why would she stay in a strange country with people who obviously didn't want her there all to find a father who didn't bother to contact her until he needed her for something? A sane person would have booked it back to the states on the first thing smoking. Lastly, the ending was predictable and lacked the final polish that keeps readers coming back for more. Also, it didn't help that the characters weren't very likeable. And I never came to care about any of them, least of all the missing father. Curiously, through most of the story, I had the impression that something was missing from the plot. Perhpas there was more back story that the readers weren't seeing. This book just didn't do it for me.
Rating: Summary: Fabulous! Review: I loved this book. It's crammed with twists and turns and just when you think you know what's going on you are surprised yet again. You never know who is doing what until the very end. Two thumbs up!
