Review: I read this book when it first came out in paperback. It was so good I read it in one sitting. The story was very absorbing. I loved the mix of fact and fiction. The story of the Titanic has enthralled me for years. I have always held with the belief that the Titanic is a gravesite and should be treated as such. I do not like the salvaging of artifacts from the ship. It would be nice to know that 'something' is protecting the poor souls who gave their lives.

Summary: Because it's unforgettable!
Review: I read this book when it first came out. I just looked it up to recommend it to someone, and was startled that the whole world didn't give it 5 stars! In the first place, the story presents a lot of historical truth and background on the ship and its fate. This gave me that "if only..." feeling all the way through it. Serling did a magnificent job of bringing the characters to life. In my opinion, this book would have made a much better movie than the big hit movie "Titanic" turned out to be. There was a real moral to the story in that the treasure seekers sacrificed their values in hopes of recoving riches. The way the characters from three different time periods came together to form a coherent story was a true feat for the author. After all this time, I've never forgotten the book. Recently, I read Passage by Connie Willis, which is an excellent novel dealing with the near-death experience. In it, the experience of being on board the Titanic is part of the mind's struggle against death. Reading that book brought this little gem back into my thoughts. Clearly, there's something about this particular tragedy of history that captivates people. For anyone who, 1) enjoys the vivid imagination and writing ability of Serling, or 2) who still feels the angst about the Titanic episode in history, or 3) enjoys a ghost story/adventure, there's a lot for you in this book!

Review: I used to read this story in bed at night. Every time I read this book I would get sucked into the story and completely spooked. So spooked, in fact, that I would have to read something light hearted afterward to get over the scare.
I recommend this book whole heartily to the paranormal enthusiast!

Summary: Deadly Treasure Hunt
Review: If you're a fan of either techno-thrillers (ala: Tom Clancy) or Ghost Stories (ala: Dean Koontz) don't miss this one. This is the first of his books I've read, and I'm immediately looking for others. I found it exciting, couldn't put it down, stayed up past my bedtime, etc. Great read!

Summary: Bad editing
Review: The book starts great, but sort of dwindles towards the end. One major source of irritation is the mixing up of data. Although the second half takes place in 1995, there are several instances where the author mixes up 1995 with 1993 (from 1995 to 2000 it really is only five years and not seven as described). He can't seem to make up his mind. Maybe it was a bit premature of him to thank his editor in the end note? All in all: not too bad, but not great either. Decent pulp reading for those lost hours in transit on an airport.

Summary: A real page turner
Review: This book is perfect for the everyday Titanic buff or even if you just like mysteries and the supernatural. This book was given to me from a friend and for three days I wasn't able to put it down. From it I got information about the Titanic I had never heard, and the plot along with it's characters was extremely entertaining. The author's use of imagery in this book is fabulous. He painted an all too vivid image of the Titanic resting two and a half miles below the Atlantic's surface. There were a few points in the book when the story was a little slow going, but it's well worth it. I highly recommend this book. It's sure to give you a whole new perspective of the Titanic and of what greed can do to you.
