Summary: An excellent cautionary tale
Review: Gerdt's first attempt at fiction on a grand scale was a respectable effort that I hope he will follow up on. Like J. K. Rowling, Gerdt pulls you in and makes you feel the frustration that the main character feels when she is treated unfairly by family members. Justice comes swiftly to those who deserve it, though, so the reader is not disappointed. This is also an excellent choice for those who enjoy religious-based fiction, but beware, it is not for the faint of heart!
