Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Just the thing to read on a cold night.
Review: The spirits of people who disappeared in an impenetrable forest, including smugglers and a Nazi whose bomber crashed during WW2, live on in the same dark wood, emerging every time an enshrouding fog covers the countryside to torture and terrorise anyone who dares enter their domain. A wildlife expert's girlfriend becomes lost in the forest and a search of the area begins.

This is a first-rate novel with a good storyline, plenty of strong characters and some outrageously funny black humour. Great attention is paid to detail and description, making the twisted trees, gurgling marshes and cold underground dungeons seem all the more sinister.
