Summary: A Non-Stop Read
Review: A great story! Once I picked up the book I couldn't put it down. It is a very believable tale about an unbelievable subject. The main character is like anyone of us with horror in their past (and who doesn't have that?). He is not only lovable, but also to be pitied. He's made real by a gifted author. The author has done a masterful job bringing together the real and the unreal to make it seem all OH SO REAL. Can't wait for the sequel.

Summary: More books please, Mr. Easton
Review: As an avid reader of true crime and horror, I found that this book is a "must have" and one that will be read again and again.

From the first paragraph, Easton takes you into his own world of werewolves. He writes with such detail, emotion, and creativity that I was unable to put the book down for the night. Day or night, it can get the best of even the most seasoned reader of dark fiction.

He drew me into the character's past as surely as I was seeing my own. I could relate to Sylvester's dark side & human side - even as he untouchable and invincible.

Twists and turns around every chapter...honest...provoking...penetrating...A GREAT ESCAPE FROM THE NORM.

This author is brilliant!!!!!!!!!!

Summary: Little pig, Little pig, let me in!!!!
Review: I am normally turned off by unknown writers in the SF genere since many of them have basic inconsistancies that interfere with the storyline. However, this selection seemed to be well thought out. I found this book to be engaging and well researched, as well as action packed. Sylvester, the main character, becomes a hunter as well as the hunted and the tale follows his ups and downs as he learns more about his preys' limits and his own humanity that he finds slipping through his fingers in his quest for the Beast. The werewolves in this book have occult ties that never become cheesey as I have seen in other sci fi/horror novels, it is a realistic connection and makes it all the more gripping in that if werewolves did exist the connections that the author draws seem very possible. There are real characters in this book, even the "bad" guys are not painted in the usual black and white. No one is motiveless, and the main character has a constant struggle with his own drive and wether his self imposed quest is worth it. I myself snagged the book from a friend when she wasn't looking and found I could not put it down. I hope the author gives us a second helping.

Summary: Werewolves scare me, now.
Review: I don't usually write reviews, but after finishing When The Autumn Moon Is Bright I felt like I owed it to the writer. I didn't know what to expect at first...I mean I'd never heard of Brian Easton before, but after the first chapter I was hooked. There's so much going on in this book that it's hard to sum up in less than a 1,000 words. Basically, the story centers around the life and times of a werewolf hunter whose hatred gradually draws him from his higher moral standards to an awful place where violence and terror are a way of life. You really feel the character's pain and feel for him. I think this is true because the settings are very true to life and the protagonist is very mortal. The amount of research that went into this book is amazing and you really feel like the author has been everywhere from Vietnam to Russia.

Review: I had never read a novel about werewolves that i liked. Being my favorite monster, i'm kind of a snob about werewolves. Then came Brian Easton. Avoiding the many pitfalls of writing about werewolves and their adversaries, he weaves a tale that is both frighteningly real and touchingly tragic. Just when Sylvester seems the ultimate butt kicker, he has something dear ripped from his life and becomes the tragic hero again. But, you don't get alot of time to feel sorry for him. He's downright mean and takes his vengeance as violently as the crimes perpetrated against him and becomes almost a villian himself. Sylvester James is the literary personification of the idea that 'you can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs. Wonderful storytelling. I'd recomend it to everybody from shakespeare fans to pulp readers.

Summary: Something to sink your teeth into
Review: Lately I've read quite a few books from many different authors, genres ranging from horror/fantasy to historical fiction, to biographies and autobiographies. After awhile these all seem to run together, and even the latest offerings from my favorite authors(those whom I could rely on in the past to hold my interest)have lost that 'something' that causes a reader to devour the book like a well cooked steak. Struggling through these latest books, I've felt more like I'm either reading for an assignment, or a dogged determination to complete(as with Anne Rice's Witch series), because stopping a read in the middle to me seems like admitting defeat.
Thar is, until I picked up 'Autumn Moon...' This book grabbed me by the shirt, and would not let go. I started the book on a Monday, and read in every spare moment I had; the final evening I stayed up until 3:30 in the morning of the Thursday following.
This thing fulfills on all levels; obviously bloodthirsty action and drama run rampant, with the horrific theme of the Beast running rife throughout. Along with this is the personal angst and anguish the protagonist goes through. I was amazed at the length and breadth the author went through researching the different places and eras.... That is what reinforced the book; a sense of reality, a true autobiography, which made the advent of the Beast that much more frightening. I want more. NOW.
