Summary: Looking For a Good Scare?
Review: back in my childhood days, nothing made me as excited as going to the bookstore and picking out a new book by christopher pike. a couple of years passed and my obsession cooled as i began to read more adult-oriented material. then, a few weeks ago, out of the blue i began to think of these old favorites, and to miss them. i ordered a bunch of them on amazon, and besides titles that i remember loving i ordered a couple i had never read. the wicked heart belongs in this latter category. it arrived first, so i read it first. i was extremely disappointed. although the references to nazi germany and the origins of "the wicked heart" add some color to the story, they cannot make up for the one-dimensional characters who never end up recieving your sympathy. the most memorable part, in terms of how ridiculous it is, is when the main character, shorty after learning of her best friend's death, cries on the phone to the chief of police about how her boyfriend has broken up with her.
at first, i assumed that i had outgrown christopher pike's novels and had wasted money by purchasing them. but then i recieved the others i had ordered. i just finished reading "weekend" and it was great. it was published in 1986, while "the wicked heart" was published in 1993. perhaps his older works are better? or perhaps he had a tight deadline to meet when he wrote "the wicked heart"? i dont know, but i DO know that my copy is going to the thrift store, and if you want a good christopher pike book you should definitely look elsewhere.

Summary: Dusty Shame rocks.
Review: This book is great, with many tiwsts and turns. The plot is great, with equally great characters like Dusty. Even though his mother and grandmother were just evil, they are well developed characters. Sheila was more like a standby character, not someone you could really think existed. Sheila and Matt were mostly characters that no one wanted to hear about. I mean, this is about Dusty!!! Dusty was just a really sweet guy, and it is too bad what happened to him in the end. This story about the Holocaust gives a new view and turn about the time that humans were ashamed to be humans. This book is one of Christopher Pike's best. It probes the mind and human condition, or, if you will, human nature perhaps??? Very touching, believable story. I think anyone who has read Mr. Pike's books will agree it is the best. I totally recommend it.

Summary: This wuz da BOMB!!!
Review: This is one of Pike's best. Definatley one of his books aimed at a slightly older audience. I couldnt stop reading as the story shifts from Dusty's point of view to Sheillas. The end is a nail bighter. A Must Read!!!!
