Summary: This book has wide appeal, not just to horror lovers.
Review: "The Wendigo Border" is a book with broad appeal, set as it is in modern, workaday Wyoming, but dealing with American Indian myths, legends, and history, all steeped in the darkly fantastical. Montrose's style reads easily, though her story is complex and multi-layered. "Wendigo Border" mixes the tragedy of the Plains Indians Ghost Dance with an imaginative take on the supernatural in modern life--exciting and unique. The details are superb; the characters, especially the ageless Cheyenne Charlie, keep readers involved. I'd recommend this novel to readers who enjoy Western history, myth, dark fantasy, wise commentary on modern living--and anyone who just likes a good read.
