Rating: Summary: More romance/adventure/intrigue focus than science fiction. Review: First off, with novels by a Christian publisher, which are billed as Christian, I like to let the people know the spiritual aspects of the novel. The novel supports evolution as if it is science fact instead of theory. This is only in a few spots, so it wasn't a large part of the story. The novel has some religious figures and influences in it, but Christianity is not much of a focus. I got the impression that anyone who looked too deeply into the Bible and prophecy for answers was viewed as too fundamental. Other religions in general get a nod here and there. One of the main characters is a woman pastor. Take all this as you will, as I post it for your information in evaluating the spiritual aspects of the book. It, of course, influenced my opinion.
This book is mainly of the action/intrigue variety with a good part romance thrown in. The science fiction aspects are definitely there, but are mainly just the linchpin around which the other aspects of the story hinge.
I found most of the writing from okay to good, and the story itself was very good up to the ending -- it left me feeling somewhat cheated, as the sci-fi aspect did not come to a resolution in my opinion. The romantic/action/intrigue aspects did though, so I didn't feel totally cheated. If you go into the book with the idea that that is the focus of the story, the ending will probably satisfy you.
Overall, I found it good in story, poor in some spiritual aspects, and okay in most others. I settled on a 3.75, between okay and closer to liking it. Therefore, I scored it a four on the stars.

Rating: Summary: Watch out - the big one is coming Review: Great read. Howard Johnson is on to a great subject here. The characters are fun and the dialog is super. I read the nearly 500 pages in three days. Couldn't wait to get back to it each day. Could make a fine screenplay too.
