Summary: A great mystery story
Review: I have read many books by Christopher Pike, and this is one of the best. "Slumber Party" was very well written and you can tell that it took a while to write this story. There were many times I wanted to look at the back of the book because I couldnt take the suspense any more and I wanted to know who was the one doing everything. If you love mystery books with alot of suspense... this is a great book for you.

Summary: not original but a good read
Review: I just finished reading this book and have to admit I was dissapointed by the ending. THe story started off so well with such gruesome stuff that happened (in their past) but it was then in the very first chapters that it was obvious who the 'bad guy' in this story was. Just look at the facts, look at the person who has got the most reasons for doing the things that are happening and there you have it. Most of the time in books like this the 'bad guy' is always the one you least expected, this book is the opposite. But still the story was really well written and good for some good chills. If you are afraid of fire don't read this one!

Summary: "It was eight years later, and it was happening again...."
Review: In "Slumber Party," 17-year-old Lara Johnson (the protagonist) and her five girl friends (Celeste Winston, Dana Miller, Rachael Grayson, Nell Kutroff, and Mindy Casey) travel to Cedar Stream, California, for a weekend ski trip. Shortly after they arrive, strange and dangerous things start to occur: a snowman mysteriously melts; Dana goes missing, leaving unusual ski tracks in the snow--both events leading Lara to a "supernatural hypothesis"--and then Mindy's arm gets seriously burned in the fireplace. What it all leads back to is a fiery slumber party eight years ago when one of them was disfigured and her sister died. And someone wants to make sure they never forget it.

"Slumber Party" wasn't quite as engaging as some of Pike's later books (I think this is his first published book under this pseudonym), but it was still a fast-paced mind twister, with a little bit of romance thrown in between Lara and a 22-year-old guy (Percy Chand) she meets at the lodge. It vaguely reminded me of "Weekend" (the book published just after this one), because of its conspiratorial vacation setup; though instead of heading South, this one heads for the slopes. If you've read "Weekend," then you may be able to uncover the mystery in "Slumber Party" a little quicker. This is certainly worth picking up if you're a Pike fan and/or like teen suspense.

Summary: Slumber Party
Review: Slumber Party was the first Christopher Pike book I read (my 5th grade teacher had a whole shelf full of them) and just reading this one got me hooked. Slumber party is a great horror story - suspenseful, scary, and has a lot of mystery. I wouldn't recommend this book to children under twelve, but then again, I read it when I was ten, and it didn't bother me... I loved it! I give this book five out of five stars... try reading some of Christopher Pike's other books! They're awesome! I personally recommend the "Last Vampire" seriees (6 books), the "remember Me" series (3 books), "Fall into Darkness", "Spellbound", "Die Softly", "Bury Me Deep", and "Scavenger Hunt". These are all excellent, spine-tingling books with a bit of a twist!

Summary: WOW
Review: This book surprised me! It wasn't like others I've read by Christopher Pike. It is about how a girl named Lara who goes on a skiing vacation with her friends to a house owned by one of the girl's family. In the story Lara runs into a lot of bad luck and most of the incidents seem to be related to fire. Lara gets spooked because in her childhood she and her friends had a slumber party. During the slumber party, Nell, the girl who's family owns the cabin, had to bring her little sister Nicole and she ended up dying from fire. Lara thought Nicole had come back to haunt her because she died caught on fire and Lara tried to put her out by dumping brandy on her. A couple minutes later she blew up. At the cabin weird things happen. A snowman melts that is in shade and it is freezing out side. Dana suddenly disappears and one of her skis is found on the path. Mindy's arm suddenly catches on fire and her arm wasn't touching any fire. To top it all off the so-called police man that parks their car for them may not even be a police man but a car theif. This book was very unpredictable!

Review: This was the first Christopher Pike book I read and I loved it! Pike keeps you guessing and you'll never guess "whodunnit". It was kind of weird that my name was used in Slumber Party but I'm glad I read it. I would truly recommend this book for children 12 years and up. Other Pike books that I recommend are "Spellbound", "Die Softly", "Bury Me Deep", "Witch", and The Last Vampire series.
