Rating: 2 stars
Summary: so-so
Review: has an abrupt ending and the story never explains itself. Why does the monster exist? The story reads as if it were part of a series that perhaps I have missed. I am glad I only spent 50 cents on this book.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Another great scare fest.
Review: If you've read and enjoyed any of David Robbins' other horror novels, you will enjoy this one as well. While not quite as entertaining as his novel "The Wereling", this one is still worth a few hours of reading time.

The story takes place in your typical small, backwoods town. An unknown creature, initially believed to be a bear, goes on a killing spree. As the townspeople are picked off one by one, the true nature and origin of the creature are slowly learned by the survivors.

A few subplots occur, one of which is the typical "long lost high school sweethearts find each other and start their lives anew". Most of them, including this one, do nothing to advance the story. It would have been better if the author would have excluded it from the story.

Overall, if you like B-grade type horror stories which are reminiscent of Saturday afternoon Creature Theatre, you will enjoy this novel.

Review: This guy writes some GREAT Horror. His Pumpkin
Trilogy, as it has become known among fans, will
keep you on the edge of your seat. (The three
books are HELL-O-WEEN, PRANK NIGHT and SPOOK NIGHT)
He is a master at suspense, and no one, absolutely
no one, is better at ending a chapter with a
'cliffhanger'. He'll keep you turning the pages long
after you want to turn in, guaranteed.
