Rating: Summary: FINALLY THE WAIT IS OVER Review: I have only been waiting forever for Anne Bishop to return to the world of the Black Jewels. I remember vividly reading the first 3 books. I lost an entire weekend. I started reading on a Friday, and did not surface until sometime Monday. The only problem was when I was finished, I was still hungry for MORE!!!! Now the wait is over. Short stories, long stories or poetry, I do not care, just give me MORE!!!
Anne Bishop does not let her Black Jewels fans' down. Once again she draws the reader into this dark seductive world and never lets them go until the final page is turned. The only problem is that I am terrified THAT THERE WILL BE NO MORE!!!!!
For readers already familar with Anne Bishop and the Black Jewels, DO NOT MISS THIS ONE! If you have not read any of her Black Jewels, start with the first one in the Trilogy and end with this new one.
Rating: Summary: Stunning Review: After a long wait we finally see some crucial tales told in the Black Jewels series. And the wait was well worth it. As with all of Anne Bishop's novels in this world, these tales are emotionally charged and absolutely breathtaking.
There will always be more stories to tell of Jaenelle's extended family, but it finally feels like a complete story. I'd love to read more, but I, for one, can now say the tale is told. Thanks Anne.
Rating: Summary: For hardcore Jewels fans only Review: Anne Bishop, after giving us the Tir Alainn trilogy, has gone back to her award-winning, besteselling roots of the Black Jewels realms. This novel, a collection of four short stories, gives insight into different events that have influenced the events that take place in the Black Jewels trilogy, as well as what occurs afterwards. The book is well written and much like her original trilogy, although the stories told are unimpressive and seem more like a cashing-in on the series than explaining things more in-depth. These stories can be appreciated if you are an adamant fan of the Black Jewels series, but are otherwise lackluster. The stories are written with the expectation that the reader is strongly familiar with the Black Jewels trilogy, so if it has been a while since you have read the originals (like me), it may benefit you to reacquaint yourself with the original story, characters, and Realms, otherwise you will be lost. An overall fun, quick read, but not vital to knowing the secrets behind the Black Jewels trilogy.
Rating: Summary: Breathtaking Review: I have been waiting for what has seemed like an interminably long time for this follow up to Anne Bishop's Black Jewels Trilogy. Far from disappointing me, Ms. Bishop exceeded my hopes and dreams in reentering this intense, passionate world. Such wonderful, heart-wrenching and healing stories.
Rating: Summary: an amazing collection Review: I have read the BJT so many time I have worn out all three individual paperbacks and my omnibus. i can read them over and over. And now I have read what I was waiting for.....to find out what happened to Daemon and Jaenelle after the Queen of the Darkness ended. And, I got bonuses! It was very interesting to see how the weavers were created. And I personally found the Prince of Ebon Rih to be the best written story out of the four. It was erotic, and funny, and everything I expect a BJ book to be. The story of Zuulaman was intriguing and also out of left field. I never even knew. But it did make me bawl like a baby. I knew he never saw his third child, except for pieces, but I never knew why or what happened after. And Kaeleer's Heart was almost the perfect ending. I would have liked to seen the actual wedding with all the family and coven and whatnot, but I am satisfied with what was given. I know there will more than likely never be another BJ's book, but I hope that someday there may be a continuation. There has to be a few new stories to wring out of that fascinating land.
Rating: Summary: !!!!!!! Review: I honestly think 7 exclamation points is a perfect title for this review. Finally we have an ending to the Black Jewels Trilogy (sorry if that killed it for those who haven't read it yet, but at least you won't have to wait as long as those who read it did to get a real ending). ANd what an ending it is! I loved it!
Ok, so this book is actually comprised of four stories. The first, in all honestly, I completely didn't understand. One of the things I disliked about the BJ Trilogy was that I totally didn't understand the whole threads and webs thing. But hey, thats just me, maybe you got it and you'll like this story. For those who didn't, well luckily its short and you don't need to understand it.
The next story is about how Lucivar met his wife. Ahhhhh what a beautiful story. Some parts are sad, some super happy, some anger, etc. I promise its not cheesy though (well, maybe not too much). There were some parts that made my butt off too, much more than most of Bishop's work (good stuff, I promise). You get to see more sides of Jaenelle as well; more of her human-like qualities are shown, but she's still a pretty fierce chick. After this story, Lucivar really grew on me, much more than in the trilogy.
The third story is basically what happens when you piss Saetan off. It goes back in time, previous to the whole trilogy (if this sounds like it'll throw you off, I promise it won't). You learn more about Saetan's character here, and it explains a few things you might have not understood before.
Last, but not least, is the addition to the ending of the BJ trilogy (I guess its technically not the ending, but feels more like an ending than the last one). Those questions you had when you finished the trilogy will all be answered, thank god. Definetly much more satisfying, as well as a great story in itself.
One thing I must point out- the cover art is so much better on this book. Its so lame, I know, but I really hated those covers. I'll even look past the fact that Jaenelle is blond, not a brunette, but oh well.
If you haven't read the Black Jewels Trilogy, you will not understand this book. It is specifically meant to add on to the original trilogy, so if you try to read it you will be sufficiently lost. But if you have read the trilogy, PICK THIS UP! Even if its been a while since you read them, do it. You can go ahead and re-read them, but its really not necessary. It had been a while since I read them, and I managed just fine. I found this book 50 times more engrossing than the trilogy, and I loved the triogy too. The stories flow better, the characters are more in depth, and finally you can rest easy in regards to what happens to everyone.
Rating: Summary: The wait is now over... Review: I read the Black Jewels trilogy several years ago...wow, actually been it's been quite a while. So one can surmise how it felt to be taken back to the realms created the Anne Bishop once more...to walk among the characters that make this story so wonderful.
The book answered many questions I had after reading the book and sought to give insight on the past of the Blood. But it wasn't historical. The storytelling is the same as the BJT which means it's great! Now, I'm sad it's over...
There are some stories you just can't get enough of and I think the world in the BJT is one of them. It's as if you're a greedy child wanting more and more, unrelenting about sharing what you have. A rivoting tale about love, honor, and friendship...as always, with a twist--BJT style.
Rating: Summary: So good, I cried Review: I've been a fan of the Black Jewels Trilogy since I was 15, when my friends gave me the series to read. I had to buy my own copies soon afterward! My poor books are so beat up cause I keep reading them, but when I found out she was making a continuation, I screamed so hard it scared my friends.
This book is fantastic, telling the tale of the Beginning from the Weaver of Dreams point to view, to what happened to Jaenelle and Daemon, something I've always wanted to know. The love story between Marian and Lucivar was wonderful as well. I heartily suggest this book and as well as all of Anne Bishops books to ANY fan of fantasy.
Rating: Summary: Lovely, wonderful, wish it would never end. Review: Ms. Bishop does it again. Thank you, thank you. Hope you can find a way back to the world of the Black Jewels. Will never get tired of it. I keep on recommending the Black Jewels to many friends (but never lend my books). Again, thank you.
Rating: Summary: A fast-paced and winning set of adventures Review: The four all-new adventures of Jaenelle and her kind in Annie Bishop's Dreams Made Flesh tell of a powerful witch made flesh at last by dreams and ties with the mightiest of Blood warriors. Her ties with three deadly magicians will make her Queen of the Darkness, and restore order and peace but at a terrible cost which will cost her very soul. Intrigue, mystery and passion permeate a fast-paced and winning set of adventures.
