Summary: Out of this world?
Review: (...) As it stands, Pike has called this one own personal favorites, and I'm inclined to agree with him. It's actually the first of his that I ever read. I got it for Christmas a few years back, when I had put one of his Spooksville books on my wish-list. I didn't consider myself mature enough to handle his young-adult conceptions yet (I had tried reading "Spellbound" and found myself overwhelmed). Besides the Spooksville cover art looked more cartoony and flamboyant -- things I had come to expect from reading so much of the juvenile R. L. Stine lit. Thankfully my mother fumbled up the book store purchases and I found "The Visitor" under the tree come Christmas morning. At first I was disappointed. Especially after I read the synopsis on the back cover (which in actuality, has little do with the story at all). But still, I was intrigued by the slim little package -- it had only 162 pages, and the first chapter was short and enthralling. I fought the urge to put it on the shelf and concentrate on something else. I found myself engulfed by Pike's words -- caught up in the nightmares he describes, the strange lights, the odd occurrences, the wrenching fight between keeping love alive or resigning yourself to moving on. Everyone in this novel is trapped in their own never-ending tragedy. No matter how much they claw, and scream, and assure themselves they are doing the right thing, they ceaselessly end back in the storm of the madness. This is one of Christopher Pike's best, a most accomplished and challenging and fine-fitting masterpiece. The seance scenes, the back-story involving the Gods and ancient Egypt, the situation swapping of Mary in the beginning and Jerry at the end ... and the final line: Wow!

Review: A Review by CJWhen Merry lost her boyfriend, she was in a serious panic. Will she ever live through this, will she find a way out. This book was fun to read. The characters were great and funny. You would always want to find what would be next when you read at least one chapter. This book will bring you a lot of laughter once you get in to it. I would recommend this book to people who like horror and adventure.

Summary: Why does my review show a picture from the ANIMORPHS series?
Review: An accidental death. An ancient spirit. Aliens. Pike is trying to do too much with this book. Reads more like notes to a tale rather than the actual story. And the trite final line doesn't even sound like something Pike would write. Everyone has a bad day. I think this was Pike's.

Review: I've never read this book, but I recomend it. I've read his entire Last Vampire series along with Bury Me Deep, The Immortal, and Midnight Club. All of these were exellent books, and I doubt The Visitor will fall below these standards.

Summary: A huge CP fan
Review: It's been several years since I read this book. But I still remember it, just like I remember all of Christopher Pike's books. I wish I could point out tid bit by tid bit of facts about the book, but as I said it has been several years. I do remember the story at large though and how the book made me feel reading it.
It is a great book, full of suspense and dives deeply into CP's endless imagination. It suprised me, even though most CP books do. You come to expect endless twists and turns and some of the most fun you will ever have reading horror novels (that is what I have always considered his books to be, though there are clearly other themes and most are optimistic in the end, though not all..) Because the thing is.. expecting a ton of twists and brain stimulation from his books does not mean you will know what the suprises will consist of.. of that I can assure you.
I get nostaglic reading his novels because they bring back times from my life from ages 12 or so through 18 I'd say. After The Hollow Skull or was it The Lost Mind (?) he didn't seem to write like he once did, turning out novel after novel.. and the few works he did publish were harder to find.
The Vistor is the story of Mary and Tom. I remember that an accident befalls Tom and Mary grieves and grieves for him. You could really feel her anguish through the pages and now that I have experienced a loss like hers (in no way similar) I know the book would be that much more touching. Mary hopes and dreams of Tom coming back. Then one day he does. But he is not who he once was. I believe Tom was called Jerry at first.. but then was later called Tom? Forgive me if I am wrong.
I just had to mention something about this book and how if you are at all interested in any of CP's plots or have read other books you should go out and pick this one up. And be sure to read the others as well.

Review: Shocking is one word that would discribe this book,it starts like any murder story,a girl grieving her boyfriend,depressed,desperate,half mad.Then the aliens come,then the boy from the fourth dimention comes.Mary discovers she is not Mary at all but a damned egyption queen forevered damned to live buried alive in the black tomb

The teaser for this book gives you absolutely no idea what the book is really about, so ignore that.
I like how Pike keeps with his theme that time is constant... and that it repeats. Forever. It's very chilling... very suspensful.
This is a rare mixture of strange elements that can be pulled off by Pike.
