Rating: Summary: amazingly written! Review: all i gotta say is READ THIS BOOK!! im not giving any of it away because if u like pike then u'll definetly like the cold one. its gruesome in parts which i like! 8-D this is on of pikes most twisted books ever, but its important to his stories, it has a vauable message of life that no writer has ever explained and could never put it better than the master himself, CHRISTOPHER PIKE! im excited to read the sequel, just got to find the damn book.
Rating: Summary: Own most of his other books and still collecting Review: does not a fascinating horror novel make. The Cold One was a bore, both book and character. The familial revelations read more like a bad daytime soap. And about RAK, the 5,000 year old (blind!) god? He reminded me of the 1st Survivors to be booted off the island: he rounded out the cast but the show could've and would've gone on without him. The title character goes through the novel explaining to us over and over how it "feels nothing, no emotion", yah that's the level of involvement I felt with this story. Sequels to come? Ay caramba!
Rating: Summary: Where is the sequel??????? Review: I absolutely LOVE Christopher Pike's adult and young adult books. His characters are very likeable and interesting and his books are really entertaining and great to read again and again. I bought this book when it first came out and it's one of my favorite Pike books. I have waited YEARS for the next installment of this awesome mysterious tale and I wish he would write it already!
Rating: Summary: Awesome Book of Intrigue & Eastern Thought, Great Story Review: I love the plot and the characters, and I have read this book many times. However, in the back of the book I have, which was one of the first editions printed, it says that Pike's next book will be Blind Mirror, and this was back in 1995, so no wonder no one has seen the sequel to The Cold One, which was to be called The Cold One II: Seedling. It seems as if Mr. Pike has been writing Blind Mirror for some time, and he may never publish The Cold One II: Seedling, which would be very sad. However, this is an awesome book, and worth reading 100%!!!!!
Rating: Summary: The Cold One is a must-read Review: I loved The Cold One from the very first time I read. One thing bothers me though: When is The Cold One II: Seedling coming out? I noticed that The Blind Mirror was set to be released first, even though The Cold One came out in 1994 or 1995. I look forward to reading The Blind Mirror but I would like to at least get a hint as to when Cold One II will appear. If anyone knows please fill me in.
Rating: Summary: A GREAT book! Review: I really enjoyed this book. It was very enthralling and I couldn't stop reading it! I liked Christopher Pike from the beginning, and this book made me like him more. I liked the characters, the plot and I loved the ending! Totally unexpected! Now, I'm impatiently waiting for the sequel that I heard wouldn't be sold in Canada, I was quite upset. I'm going to read it though, I'm determined because The Cold One was so good!
Rating: Summary: AWESOME BOOK Review: I [] LOVED THIS BOOK!!! I never wanted to put it down. Where is the sequal though? The only part that kinda was boring was all the Hindu stuff. Other than that read this book. Even if you're not a Pike fan. It's soooo good.
Rating: Summary: "One Of Pike's Best' Review: I'm only 13 and I started reading Pike's books for young adults about 1/2 year ago. I've read almost all his books now. This book took me 2 hours to finish. I couldn't put it down. If you like Pike's books, you have to read this one. Other good books by Pike are: Sati; Season Of Passage; The Listeners; Fall Into Darkness; Remember Me 1, 2, and 3; and Final Friends 1,2,and 3. PS. Does anyone know when "The Cold One 2: Seedling" is suppose to come out?
Rating: Summary: Like Creepy Books? Review: The classic plot of good vs. evil is personified in Pike's more adult books. This is not one of your favorite Last Vampire stories. Pike takes a mixture of satan and human qualities and creates a creature so purely evil we are left wondering if it can ever be destroyed.
Rating: Summary: PIKE AT HIS BEST Review: The Cold One is a book that shows Christopher Pike at his best. He takes a variety of interesting characters, some eastern metaphysics, a horrible and fascinating villain, and plenty of shocking violence, throws them all together, and comes up with The Cold One. The story flows well and will keep you reading not only well into the night, but throughout your lifetime because you will find yourself rereading this book many times. For those of you who did not know Pike writes adult material, or has never read one of his adult books, then this is a great one to start with. I guarantee it will hook you. The scenes can be gruesome and shocking, but they are perfect for the story. This is a tale that not only entertains, but it makes you think. Once you put down this book, you will have not forgotten it. Rather, you will be replaying scenes in your head, thinking about it, wondering, and waiting for the sequel. It is those kind of books, I feel, that are the most entertaining and by far the best ones to buy. Oh, and once you're done with The Cold One, if you are looking for another Pike book to read, I would suggest The Season of Passage.
