Summary: Bravo! Bravo!
Review: I loved this book! There is a "Great Read Guaranteed" stamp on the book from Penguin and with good reason, Little is back on his game with this one.

Any seasoned Little reader will love the nod to Phillip Emmons and Death Instinct within the story.

The story is full of typical sick Little horror and reminds the reader, once again, why he is a Bram Stoker Award winner. An excellent story, a surprising ending and lots of horror along the way.

I highly recommend this book.

Summary: Unsatisfying Ending
Review: If other reviewers have read all of Bentley Little's books like I have, they must admit that this is not one of his stronger stories. Yes, the first half has all the makings of another Little classic, but it falls apart at the end when all the mysteries are explained in the last 30 pages. If Bentley had peppered the novel with clues to what was happening from the beginning, I would have been more forgiving, but everything was so conveniently tied up that I could tell he was fighting to come up with a good ending. He did the best he could, and I'm sure we'll see more great things from this underrated horror author in the future. Check out "The Store", "The Association", or "The Store" for some of his stronger work.

Summary: The Resort by Bentley Little
Review: If you enjoy lots of gore, then The Resort is for you. The novel is well-written, evenly paced, and a fable for those who are inclined to frequent off-season resorts in an attempt to save a few bucks. The old adage that "if it seems too good to be true, then it probably is..." applies to this novel's plot line. But be forewarned; it is violent and bloody.

Summary: Resort Hell
Review: In Bentley Little's new book, "The Resort", the Thurman family are on vacation, but instead of going to Lowell's high school reunion, he opts for a week at a spa resort in the Arizona desert instead. When he gets there, he and his family find that things are not quiet right; the staff's name tags give too much information, the Thurman's room is accidnetly given to a pervert, the activity director is way too pushy, and that is just the beginning. Soon it becomes a literal living nightmare. There are sadistic golf games and hedonistic behavior of the guests, and that is just the tip of the ice burg. I liked Lowell Thurman. He was the perfect everyman hero. He is a smart college graduate who never quiet achived his dreams, but is content in his station in life, a grocery store manager. He deeply loves his family, and that is real too. After him, the rest of the cast dose suffer by comparison, but they are still an interesting bunch, especially his youngest son Ryan, who loves all things paranormal, therefore having the time of his life, up to a certain point. The final solution is really interesting; the idea that no matter what kind of monsters and demon's Little creates, he always remembers that the most trully evil thing in the universe is human greed. This is by far Little's best book, and though I like all the one's of his I have read so far, I love this one. It dose not follow the usual pattern, and is somewhat unique.

Summary: Little and Poor
Review: Little is no Stephen King. Worst book I have ever read. This is not literature, horror, or a "guaranteed great read" as advertised on the book cover.

Summary: A Great Trip To A Terrible Resort!
Review: Lowell Thurman and his family check into the exclusive Reata, an isolated resort in the Arizona desert, where things get very weird very quickly, yet the place has the power to convince everyone that everything is normal. Once they start to put together what's going on, the question is how much will it cost them to escape. How many more people will die? It's a great book, fast paced, and my favorite from Little yet!

Summary: He has done better................................
Review: Sorry..... I really wanted to like this one and was expecting a read as good as Mailman, Association or Policy........where the horror starts out small, almost on an acceptable level and then just keeps spreading like a virus of terror. But folks, this one.....a story of a hotel reviving itself thru blood.......not his typical style, and I was a little bored reading it, reminded me a little of stephen kings shining.....with the old dead employees walking around......etc.
I will keep it in my collection, but probably wont read it again.

Summary: I've read worse
Review: This book was perfect to kill a couple of rainy hours. Spooky in all the right ways at first. A good story about a family on vacation that checks in to a very wrong resort....(play creepy music here). But, I am sorry to say, a lot of the book just didn't work for me. I found the end distressing and unsatisfying. I will certainly give the author another try, however, since he seems to have many very loyal fans.

Summary: This book is so weird!
Review: This is probably the weirdest book I've ever read. So bizzare. I didn't get it.

Summary: Should have checked out of this resort earlier...
Review: Why, oh why must it always be a child who is the key to the mystery in hackneyed, trite horror novels like this one? Why must the explanations for why the nasty things that have happened to people throughout the story always be vague and not really explanatory? Why does the ostensibly normal, ordinary-Joe male protagonist end up being capable of wielding a sword and negotiating successfully with psychopaths? Why did I spend four hours of my life reading this dreck? The Reata is a resort to avoid.
