Rating: Summary: Very Well Done Suspense and Horror Review: This is one of King's better books. And at times it is very cringe inducing. The book takes place in Maine (as do most of King's books). A family moves into an old house and befriend this old couple across the street. The old man takes them on a tour of the woods and they visit the Pet Semetary (made by kids, that's why it's mispelled). Anyways, it's mentioned that there were Indians who used to be settled up there, past the Semetary.
Later in the book, the family's cat dies. The old man takes the man and the cat up to the Semetary in a pretty intense sequence of suspesful atmosphere and weird nature and inatural sounds. He takes him to an old Indian Burial ground and there they bury the cat. Who comes back in a few days. Though he's been changed. The cat acts more aggressive. The man learns that this place resurects the dead, but a price is paid, they come back changed.
Then, his youngest son, only a few years old, is hit by a semi. This starts the chainreaction that makes the man loose his mind, near enough and causes the breakdown of the family. One by one. Very good book and pretty scary.
Rating: Summary: Very disturbing, yet very good Review: This is one of my all time favorite books. I've had many nightmares about this book and I can recall being very scared weeks after reading this book. You can look at the title and get an idea of what the story is about, but the story is much more than zombies and burial grounds. There's something about the relationships, the evils working behind the scenes that really make this story what it is. Tim Batterman is scary not so much because he's a reanimated corpse, but because theres an evil inside of him. I think what's disturbing about this story is we can relate to the characters and somehow we can understand why Louis, Bill, and Jud do the things they do. We can see something in ourselves in these characters we'd rather not see.
The use of imagery is excellent in this book..one excerpt I can particularly remember was Tim Batterman having pitch black eyes like raisins in dough.
The movie doesn't do this movie justice because you can't get into the characters thoughts like you can in the book, which is where the best part of the story is. The unspoken part of the book is the most disturbing.
Rating: Summary: pet sematary is one of the best books ive ever read. Review: what else can we expect from the legend of horror? i consider this king's one of his masterpieces! the story starts off where this family had moved in to this small town. dr. loius creed met a man (his neighbor) and he showed him this secret burial ground that could bring up the dead back to life.
but the real horror comes in when his son was run over by a truck, and thats when he started to play god by bringing his son back to life, not knowing that it will only have one goal - to KILL.
im gonna give this book a 4 stars mainly because of the story. if it had involved alot of blood, guts, and violence, then i would have rated this 5 stars. but all in all, this book is a must read for horror fans like me. you're not gonna regret it!
