Summary: A "old" look at God's grace through non-denominational eyes
Review: Max Lucado shatters denominational lines in this simple, honest, examination of God's grace. Those aversive to his religious denomination (not to be revealed by this writer) and the use of other than KJV translations should lay aside biases and read the profoundly satisfyng perspective of grace that Lucado shares. Those in bondage to the weaknesses of this sinful failing flesh should read this book and find peace "In The Grip of Grace." Humanism and self-righteousness fall in the pathway of Lucado's presentation of biblical logic and apologetics. Individuals of any and all faiths, or especially those with no failth should read and be enlightened. To miss this is to miss a blessing. This book may the best explanation of grace to adorn the printed page this century. -Christian school teacher, USA

Summary: Inspirational reading focused on 'real life' Christianity
Review: Max Lucado writes this inspirational book in a way that any new, or "old" Christian could apply and relate to their daily lives. Our sunday school class has studied this book together, and each week I would be struck with a new, inspiring perception toward MY daily life through Max Lucado's words. I would highly recommend this book

Summary: Max Lucado offers a refreshing look at the doctrine of grace
Review: Our society is geared toward the concept of working for what we get-- a "get what you pay for" mentality. That's one of the main reasons the grace of God is so difficult to accept. Max does a nice job of exploring three of the major foes of a salvation purely obtained by grace. The "hedonist" feels no need for God, being content to focus on meeting physical desires. The "judgementalist" feels his/her role in life is to keep others on the straight and narrow. He/she justifies these actions be assuming to be God's "watchdog." The "legalist" is on a useless pursuit of attempting to earn God's favor by working harder and following a stringent set of human imposed rules. Max contrasts these perversions of God's grace with the ideal: the "grace driven Christian." He uses timely illustrations to turn rather vague, obscure truths of scripture into useful bits of wisdom we can use to positively impact our daily lives.

Summary: Great group study book
Review: Our women's discipleship group just finished a five month study of this book. It was outstanding - every week we said "This chapter was the best". Max's writing style truly shined in this book.

Summary: Great view from Book of Romans
Review: Some of my church members are afraid of reading Romans, after reading Max's "In the Grip of Grace", they got a new view of Romans and enjoyed it!

Max's beautiful writings let me have a wonderful trip to go into book of Romans and meditate God's wonderful grace in salvation. He is God who saves us and He is Jesus who brings us to God.

Summary: A book to read over and over again
Review: There should be no other message given to people who don't understand God or are searching for God than God's Grace. His amazing Grace. This book is great for unbelievers. It will wipe out a lot of their questions about Christianity, how you become a Christian, and why anyone would become a Christian. This book walks us through Romans and fully explains Grace. I never understood it so well. Now I am forever thinking of Max Lucado's speeding/accident record he shared with us in this book. How well he ties that into why there must be punishment for sin and how Christ acomplishes it. Max Lucado's books are never very long and if you just read through them you can finish in a few hours. The difference is that with this book (and many others like it) you get more out of it that you could from reading a commentary, and in this case, on Romans.
And just for those of you who don't know, every Max Lucado book has a study guide in the back of it. So you can go through it on your own or with a group. Personally, I like to read first then go through the Bible Study later. I know that this will be a book that I will be rereading at least once a year, if not more. EVERYONE should read this book.

Summary: Lucado uses Romans 7 to explain true grace
Review: This book begins with a typical Lucado style, but quickly turns to the true meat of the Bible. Using real life examples, he turns Paul's cry of frustration and subsequent explanation of grace in Romans 7 into something that I could understand and see just what was happening in my own life. Now if he would only do a book on Romans 8. -Chris Flanders

Summary: Just what I needed
Review: This book is amazing. This is the first Max Lucado book that i have read, but i know it will not be the last. If you are a new christian, or a christian struggling with your spirituality, this book is great. Max Lucado explains "Grace" so perfectly, it seems like every sentence is an eye opening statement, reminding the reader why they are living their life for God. This breaks down all the stupid myths about religion by putting such a huge thing into simple perspectives. Some of the things you read are hard to believe, its hard to comprehend God's love, however, every page is a step towards more understanding. I loved this book because it was real, and simple, and comforting. It was also a page turner, an exciting book i couldnt wait to pick up again and again. I plan on buying many copies of this book for friends, The book says all the things ive always wanted to tell my friends about, but didnt know how to. It brings to life the reasons why his grace, is an Amazing Grace. Please, please read this book, it will change your life ;) God Bless!!
