Review: Wow!!!! I absolutely loved this book! I could not put it down. Dark Shadows fans out there, you have to read Angelique's Descent. It answers all your questions about Angelique before she came to Collinwood. I don't want to give anything away, but all I can say, is...Lara Parker is an extraordinary writer!!!!!!!!!I can't wait to read more of her books.

Review: "Anqelique's Descent" is a "Dark Shadows" masterpiece! It is a novel that hypnotized me and enthralled me until the very end. Reading it made me feel as though I were on the exotic paradise of Martinique with Angelique Bouchard experiencing her emotions and predicaments. Lara Parker reveals a story revolving around the characters of Angelique, Barnabas and Josette that was not depicted in the original "Dark Shadows" series. For a devout Dark Shadows fan learning this story can be as exhilarating as slowly devouring a succulent bon-bon! Parker's telling of this story completely challenged my previous feelings about the character of Angelique-the villainess everyone loves to hate! Her masterful descriptions of Angelique's youth and the island of Martinique stir fierce passion. For a true fan another fascinating aspect of this novel is that you get to hear descriptions of the characters through the guise of the actors that played them as they are described by Lara Parker(the actress that was up close and on the set nearly thirty years ago). For the most part, the novel sticks to the plot of the original series (although minor deviations can be noted). Parker also throws in some delicious and surprising plot twists, which further seal a fan's conclusions about the character of Angelique. If you are a Dark Shadows fan or just someone who enjoys fantasy and passionate novels do not let this be the novel that got away! Not only is Lara Parker a talented and beautiful actress she is a brilliant writer!

Review: Filled with all the romance and mystery that made the original series such a hit with fans, Angelique's Descent delivers! One can almost hear the chilling Dark Shadows soundtrack and see Ms. Parker's hypnotic blue eyes! This tale of a woman scorned fits in so perfectly with the storyline of the original series, one might wonder if Sam Hall himself were a contributor. I cannot wait for Ms. Parker's next tale of Collinwood's savior and tormentor.

Summary: Angelique continues to Bewitch and fascinate us!
Review: I've loved Dark Shadows since I was ten and, along every other kid I knew I watched it every day! This book is interesting because it tells the story of Angelique's childhood on Martinique and what happened in her life before she came to Collinsport. I am an actual real-life Witch and the things that Angelique does aren't even close to what we do. We are bound by the Wiccan Rede to "Harm None," and I don't think she ever cast a circle when she did a spell! We also don't worship, or even believe in, Satan. This is a great book, but highly innacurate about Witchcraft. She will always be, in my opinion, the most interesting of all the Dark Shadows characters and I never liked Josette much anyway! What a spoiled brat! How Barnabas could ever have chosen Jossdette over Angelique...go figure!

Summary: Kudos To Lara Parker!
Review: This book is a fantastic read! If you are a Dark Shadows fan (which I am), and even if you're not, you will enjoy this book. Lara Parker's writing style is quite impressive; the book is well written and true to the original characters of the Dark Shadows series. As I read the book I was transported right back to my teen years, when I would rush home aferschool to watch Dark Shadows. Angelique and Barnabas were as real to me in this book as they were years ago. This book is a real trip down memory lane! But it! I hope there will be many more books to follow in this new Dark Shadows series.

Review: From 1967-1971, Lara Parker starred as the beautiful blond witch, Angelique, in the gothic soap opera "Dark Shadows." In Parker's first novel, the story of how Angelique became a witch is unfolded. The book begins in 1971, when Barnabas Collins finds the diary of the very woman who loved yet cursed him. The diary takes the reader back to the 1770s, when Angelique was a child in her native Martinique. It was during this time that Angelique was transformed from an ordinary youth to one who had extraordinary powers. This suspenseful, horrifying, and eroti book will enthrall anyone who loved the series, and will serve as an introduction to those readers who have yet to see an episode of "Dark Shadows." I can't wait to see what Lara Parker writes, be it "Dark Shadows" related or not.

Review: A greatly anticipated first novel in the new DARK SHADOWS series, this one does not disappoint. Written by Lara Parker (Angelique on DARK SHADOWS), it gives us the background of Angelique, and why she is driven to do the things she does later in her life. It fills in gaps from the original series, and the prose is well-crafted and readable. A page-turner to the end, this will not disappoint! Hope Ms. Parker writes another entry soon!

Review: Excellent. I would consider this a prequal to Barnabus. We seen how Barnabus became a vampire and how he was released 175 yrs later, now we see how Angelique became a witch, and the orgin of her and Barnabus's relationship. I hope Harper Collins keeps producing more Dark Shadows novels.

Summary: A vist from old friends
Review: I loved the Dark Shadow soap opera when I was in college. This lovely book brought it all back. Angelique's descent into evil is an erotic tale of love, jealousy, obsession and horror. At times over written and descriptive, the story takes her from an innocent child to the adult seductive witch. Her encounters with Barabas Collins are both sweet and violent. I enjoyed the book very much. I recommend it for all Dark Shadows fans. Those that have not seen the series will still enjoy the book but may find a few looses ends in the conclusion as it leads into the series.

Summary: A Fun Nostalgic Journey
Review: Ah..the memories I have of Lara Parker and "Dark Shadows." I got hooked on it as a teenager. The four years Ms. Parker was on the show were teen heaven for a lovestruck young male! Her presence on the show was inestimable. While many of the other actors stumbled through their lines and looked to the camera for cues, Ms. Parker showed a professional finesse that the others just couldn't match. And those eyes..ah, those eyes! But, the book! It's not great literature, by any means. Her foray into Angelique's tormented youth and subsequent fall into witchcraft are overdrawn and histrionic. But, if you are a fan of the show and seize any opportunity to travel those Collinwood corridors again, the book is well worth the read. Lara, you should still make movies. Think of all the great "character roles" you could play now! But keep writing; your greatest fan is awaiting another opportunity to share in your nostalgia, too!
