Summary: The book delivers a tense story of life in the US Post Offic
Review: Author Ron Williams gets it right in his description of life on the workroom floor in a large US Postal facility. The tension between workers and managers is not just about job performance, but about personal relationships, in this case over a female letter carrier who is the focus of attention between a fellow worker and a supervisor. The manager uses his role of authority to sideline his rival and try and get personal favors, something that doubtless happens often in such large workplaces. The conflict in "Deliver Us From Evil" is between a confused and disturbed letter carrier, his estranged wife, and an overbearing supervisor. Reading this book one can understand how ordinary workers, with personality problems, can be driven over the brink, to plot murder and mayhem and "go postal." The book might have too much inner detail about the actual workings of day-to-day mail delivery, but the personal tensions between the main characters kept me in suspence. As a riveting mystery it is a good read.
