Summary: lost diaries
Review: To those of you who want to find the lost entries. Go to the web site listed and you will get Beaumont University. Click on Departments and go to paranormal studies. You will find Dr. Janet Reardon and get everything about Rose Red. There are pictures of all of the supposedly missing people along with the missing exerpts. The book is good and the use of actual people who happened to live at the time is typical Stephen King.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Movie?? Nothing compared to the book!!
Review: After watching the Rose Red movie first, i was intrigued to buy this book. The movie has nothing on the book. To put it briefly, this book answers a lot of questions that the movie doesnt and leaves you wanting to know more about Joyce Reardon's studies.

Summary: A wonderful read...
Review: I was watching the news right after the premiere of Stephen King's Rose Red on TV on ABC, and I did see the mansion that this book was based on. This house in Washington is currently a Bed and Breakfast, and occupants have said on more than one occasion that they have seen apparitions in the mirror that disappear the moment they turn their backs. That truly would be scary.

I do believe the diary was very well conceived and written. There are a couple of points that I thought made the authenticity of the diary hard to vouch for (and after reading the other reviews on this site, I have confirmed my doubts). The first of which is the website for Beaumont University. The keen reader would at once notice the .net IP mask of the URL address. A real university would have a .edu ending. The content on the website is also severely lacking in content and seem to one way or the other focus on Paranormal activities (even the Contact Us link and the courses offered). (By the way, the missing excerpts are also hidden at the end of the Diary Excerpts section. Go through all the missing excerpts at the end, and you'll find the "Missing Excerpts" link. And since when have authors been demure enough to replace profanity with "(_ _ _)"?)

I usually also like to comment on the language and tone of the author as they write the book. I noticed a very consistent way each entry was written. It was written as if to be read and it flowed smoothly (maybe too smoothly). I've personally kept a diary a long time ago and my entries in it were somewhat erratic and non-coherent. I never have doubts as to whether "I should entrust this knowledge on to your pages."

Upon watching the mini-series on tv, and the way they marketed and advertised the book (timing was too perfect) I knew something was fishy. There is also no credit for a Dr. Joyce Reardon on the show, and the way she was portrayed (if she were a real person) was not very flattering either. (The mini-series uses the book for its background information and flashbacks. You can read the book alone and still enjoy the story.)

Nevertheless, I found this book to be quite enjoyable and would recommend it to the readers.

Summary: Rose Red
Review: In reading "The Dairy Of Ellen Rimbauer-My Life At Rose Red" I found myself unable to put it down. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading about paranormal activity.
This book also appeals not alny to those devoted to the paranormal, but also to those who enjoy a romance/mystery novel.

Summary: completelly Taken In
Review: When I first heard of a new Steven K. movie, I could not wait to watch it. The day came I was pleased to say the least. When I heard of the book, had to have it. Read it in two days, was a bit upset that all her thoughts were not in the book. Then as all I whent to my p.c. to look up the missing sections. But kept being led back to the same stuff I already read. Or to links that I could not connect to. Now that I know about it maybe being part of an alabrett Steven K. joke. I am imppresed and a little diapointed, but most of all a little imbarresed for being taken in. Oh well live and learn but above all never undersestimate the Great Steven King. For the last name says it all "King" of Horror.

Summary: Great Book
Review: I love this book, just couldn't put it down...go out and buy it today!!!

Summary: Just Plain Dumb
Review: To start off I was mislead and was told by someone that it is based on a true story. So you can imaged when I started doing research to learn more and found nothing I was pretty disappointed. Non the less, I continued with the book. I found that the book had it's interest moments, but they were few and far between. I was also just as annoyed, as a reviewer had stated before on this site, when looking for the missing excerpts and finding that they were not missing ones but a few pages from the book. This book is clearly not worth the hype or the money to buy it.

Summary: very well writen
Review: This is great book with a great story line. Though the book says fiction it truly is not if you pay attchen to what it is your reading then you'll find clues about its truth indians, gun room, having to always build so spirits stay happy, doors that go no where, paths inside of walls, a fire... Think about it?!?!?!? Its telling the story of Winchester Masion so the story is very real just differnt names and settings, but all in all I would read the book agian. it was the best 18 bucks I've spent on a book in a long time.....P.S. Steven King didn't write the book....
It was written and edited by Joyce Reardon Ph.D.(she is real)

Summary: The Diary of Ellen Rimbauer
Review: I thought the Diary of Ellen was very interesting, although I was a little disapointed with Joyce Reardon's editing of the diary, I feel she could have included a lot more than she chose to. I kind of feel I was some how cheated out of most of the content of her diary. I think she should do another version and add the rest of the pages she omitted. Let the reader decide what is offensive or not.

Summary: Don't judge a book by its cover
Review: This was a great book I too couldn't put it down. So what if its real or not it makes for some interesting reading really spooky events happen I love the detail! If you like reading diaries for finding them hard to put down another good one is called The Diary of Mattie Spencer and the sequal to it is Alice's Tulips. Very cool how these two also tie in together. If they ever came out with a Rose Red Part two I would definatly buy it. I feel it was worth the time to read and enjoy a good book, real isn't always fun nice to know that someone can write a really good book and when your done reading say its not true right? Houses can't really feel alive?
