Rating: Summary: great, i've read it three times! Review: A good all around book, plot development etc
Rating: Summary: THE BEST BOOK I EVER READ! Review: I don't care how much you like "The Hunt for Red October" by Tom Clancy, or "A Time To Kill" by John Grisham, or "Jaws" by Peter Benchley. All of these are masterpieces, but none are as great as the classic "The Stand." "The Stand" is the most captivating and gripping book I ever read!
Rating: Summary: The Best Story Ever Told Review: THE STAND, my all time favorite book. I have read this book over and over, no matter how many times; I love it. It is the ultimate story of how the world could end, and good vs evil. The characters are so real, I feel like I know them. When I read this novel, I hate coming to the end; I become so enthraweled with the characters. If the reader can just forget how thick this book is and just start reading, you would be surprised how easy it is to read, and wish is was longer. I also saw the movie and loved it also; the actors chosen did a fine job. I think this is the best work Mr King has done. Just read THE STAND
Rating: Summary: Oh boy... Review: I'll make this quick because the book was so long. The book is good for the fist couple of hundred pages. After that, you will be amazed by stupid characters who die pointlessly.
Rating: Summary: The end of the world as only Stephen King can tell it Review: Next to the Dark Tower series, this is King's best work. Wonderfully written, and full of the imagery that turned me into a King fan. King does something that no writer has ever done to me, made me smile. I've never cared more for characters in a book. I could barely put this book down. The book is a bit long, but its worth the read. I sincerely doubt this book could have been done in any other way. Though you may need a couple weeks free to read it. Once again well worth it. Chilling, and beautifull at the same time. Read this book.
Rating: Summary: King's best since MISERY. Review: The story is horrific . . . mankind obliterated by a super virus. Now, with 99% of the human population dead, the few survivors form two groups, the Good: in Boulder, Colorado. And the Bad, in Las Vegas, Nevada. The characters are well made and I will remember them forever . . . especially Tom Cullen, Stu Redman, Mother Abagail, and, of course, Randall Flagg: the Dark Man. Many say the book is too long, and for some it may just be . . . but for me it wasn't long enough! I could read it forever, with Stephen King countinusly writing it . . . forever! This book is his best . . . matched only by MISERY.
Rating: Summary: VERY EMOTIONAL CHARACTERS Review: Some people say this book is boring with a lame ending.Well, you either love it or you hate it. The book deals so much with the characters, and causes you to cry when one dies, and feel relived when one survives.Tom Cullen touches your heart with his kindness. This book isn't overly exicting physically, but is excitng mentally and in your heart. A must read book!
Rating: Summary: King's Masterpiece Review: The restored and uncut version is FANTASTIC. I totally disagree with the reviewer who said it takes too long to get into this book. Are you kidding! King's work does not transfer to the screen well; save your $7.50 theater admission and buy the book . . . you can go back to page 1 after you've read it through to page 1141.
Rating: Summary: "M-O-O-N": That Spells: a GREAT BOOK by the master! Review: "Can you believe this happy crappy?" Although I must say that my favorite book by the master is "IT", I guess this one must come in second, or near it, anyhow. The developing of the characters is wonderful, not to mention the plot. Pennywise the Dancing Clown gave me the creeps, but Captain Tripps gave me nightmares of people all around me dropping dead like flies! I must say that I disliked one of the characters, that of Frannie Goldsmith. I guess she's the type of person I don't like in real life, being a member of the Comittee, and objecting to Stuart Redman's being the marshal, or being sent to Las Vegas: that is, being a so-called leader of the people, but trying to put her selfish interests before that! I guess you'd say that she acted like that because of her pregnancy, but still, I despised her. But that just goes to show how good these characters really are. Do not be intimidated by the 1140 pages length of this baby, it's worth reading every page. King added parts like that of THE KID, which I think add life to the story (do you believe that happy crappy?) Yes indeed, long live Tom Cullen, Nick Andros, Stu Redman, Larry "baby can you dig your man?" Underwood and Co. This book's a winner.
Rating: Summary: The ending was terrible! Review: The beginning was good. But it led into a religious heaven and hell war. At the beginning I thought it had potential to make people think about the diseases and chemicals we contain on earth and how dangerous they are. But in the end all it amounts to is divinding the world into worshipers of God and Satan. The outcome of this story could have come about with out there ever being a disease. It sounds like King got a little bored with the story and made a bad end cause he didn't want to write any longer.
