Rating: Summary: Slurry Review: Like a bad bout of diarrhoea this book never seems to end. Luckily at over a thousand pages it's handy if you have diarrhoea. I can't believe anyone hurled it 18 metres, the best my friends and I could manage was 10.5 It's also handy for getting a good nights sleep. Just take two pages and wake up in the morning. I always find that when reading about characters I wish would just die. I wish I knew which book all these five-star "best book EVER" people have read as I'd go and buy it. It can't be The Stand can it ? Surely not.
Rating: Summary: This book is King's second best book ever (after "It"). Review: This is a page turner. It's one of the best books ever
Rating: Summary: One of the three best books I ever read! Review: This was the book Stephen King was born to write. It is the ultimate good vs. evil. It was compelling and impossible to put down. I'm not even a Stephen King fan, his books tend to be too dark for me..this one is his absolute best!
Rating: Summary: This book exemplifies the struggle between good and evil. Review: This book exemplifies the struggle between good and evil. Unfortunately, good triumphs once again. To come to this conclusion, the book could have been a few hundred pages shorter. Stephen King, you're tapped, why can't you come up with a different ending. The world is changing, we can handle it.
Rating: Summary: The best book ever written Review: This book is 100% better than the first version of the stand. If you have already read the original version, then this uncut version will answer all the questions you had about each charachter. If you have never read the stand before, this will be the best and most haunting book that you have ever read!!!!!
Rating: Summary: So far, I can't put it down. Review: I just got the book yesterday, and, so far, it has fascinated me with the maze of sub-plots and different characters. When you read about one character, you basically forget all the other ones exist. When you think you have it figured out that someone is going to be a main character, they are killed, therefore keeping your interest. I am off to read some more now.
Rating: Summary: Incredible Review: The truth is, I could not find one bad thing to say about this book. It is so realistic, the action virtually comes to life in your mind. The overwhelming message I get out of it is hope - that people will always try to get back on their feet after any blow, no matter how bad. The only criticism i have is aimed at eh movie - it stuck pretty close to the book, but there were still many details - small and non-essential to the plot but very fascinating - that were cut due to time constraints. To do the story justice, it should have been much longer - maybe as many as ten episodes or more. As for the book - it is pure perfection.
Rating: Summary: Stephen King's masterpiece Review: This is probably the best book Stephen King had ever written. Although the book has over a thousand pages (in the Dutch language anyway) and the film lasts for 6 hours, you still feel like you mis a part of the story. Stephen King may not agree with me, but this is by far his best book yet.
Rating: Summary: History. Review: King's most amazing work ever. Most books of this length have so much that could have been cut and you would still have the same story, but with The Stand the cut version was nowhere near as good as the uncut. if evan one word more was taken away the story would be nowhere.
Rating: Summary: My Favorite Book of All Time Review: I've never been a Stephen King reader until I saw part of this movie, then I had to buy the book. What a great book. At first look the length was indimidating but when I started reading it, I could not put it down! And the first part was so realistic that I almost panicked when someone around me coughed! Fabulous read. Buy it in hardback...it's one you'll want to keep for your library!
