Rating: Summary: Terrifying, Epic in every sense Review: The Stand (uncut), in my opinion is the greatest novel of all time. It's epic in a way that no movie or any other medium has achived. The world is afflicted with a plauge that was accidently released the the government. It spreads like wildfire killing everyone it afflicts. Amidst all the dead a precious few are immune and survive in an almost empy world. Some good some evil....
Rating: Summary: Superb bog - køb den!! Review: Snyd ikke dig selv for denne geniale bog af mesteren selv...
Rating: Summary: King's best "long" book. Review: The Stand was without a doubt the best of King's 1000+ page books, even better than It. The characters were well fleshed out, the description of their dreams were incredible, and it had a frighfully insightful view into what evil is.
Rating: Summary: Here's a better alternative Review: Insert the wakizashi (Japanese short sword) into the lower left abdomen. Cut across the peritoneal cavity to the lower right abdomen before centering the blade. Now cut quickly upwards, clenching your teeth against the incredible pain, until you jar against the xiphoid process at the base of the sternum. Pitch headfirst into your own entrails. Congratulations, now you'll never have to read this absurd and ludicrous book again. Better yet, If Mr King would follow the above instructions, none of us would ever have to read a book this bad again.
Rating: Summary: Listen up insomniacs out there... Review: I'll admit that this book started out interesting, but then it quickly turned into one of the most effective methods for putting me to sleep. The book was WAY TOO LONG. The characters were utterly lame and stupid. The plot was profoundly unimaginative and uninspired. This 1100+ paged book was so shockingly lame that I fell 100 pages short of finishing it -I simply couldn't do it. If it weren't for The Dark Tower series, I would never have bought another Stephen King book.
Rating: Summary: If there's a more boring book out there, I haven't found it Review: First of all, let me clarify a couple of things. I LOVE reading fiction, especially sci fi and fantasy. Also, I am a fan of some of King's works -in my opinion, he wrote two of the most entertaining tales ever in The Talisman and The Dark Tower. But boy did he screw up on this one. I read more than half of his books, and never thought he would be capable of writing such an incredibly LONG AND BORING BOOK. Take my advice, it's not worth going through the whole thing. Read The Talisman or The Dark Tower books instead.
Rating: Summary: 1,141 pages of sheer boredom. Review: Well it's true what they say...the book's always better than the movie. This should only indicate how bad the movie was since this 1,141 page bore-a-thon has absolutely no redeeming characteristics except that it does eventually end. Unless you're in jail and have virtually nothing else to do, don't read this book.
Rating: Summary: without a doubt the best book i have ever read Review: I think that what makes this novel so interesting is the fact that you just cant get enough Everytime that i read it (about 4) i get goosebumps throughout the story Another part that i find enjoyable is the fact that i find myself relating to the main characters (dont we all?) But i dont relate to one character more than any other I think that we all have a part of Flagg in us somewhere He merely represents the evilness that all of us manifest at some point in our lives I would like to think of myself as more of a Glen/Stu mix but i find myself thinking that i am more of a Larry/Harold mix Sometimes i am almost sure of it And in some strangely sick way I find myself daydreaming about how life would be different if this sort of thing did happen :)
Rating: Summary: What? You havn't read this book yet? Come on, now . . . Review: The stand is the first King book I had ever picked up and by now means, the last. I've yet to read it a second time on the grounds that it's still fresh in my memory, even having read it over eight years ago. If you've seen the movie first, and are apprehensive in reading the book, I say, blah to the movie. It can't compare. Can any movie really compare to the actual literary masterpiece that gave it birth? Not likely. Try it. Once cpt. trips gets out, it'll get you too.
Rating: Summary: Best King book Review: I read many King books when I was younger. Now that I am older and have expanded the breadth of my reading, I realize how shallow and trite most of his books were. "The Stand: Complete and Uncut" is one of the few of his books that have withstood the test of time. King does best when he is restricted to shortened forms or when he is allowed to write epics such as this. His apocalyptic vision of the final showdown between good vs. evil is brilliantly rendered. This is not only King's magnum opus, it is a good book.
