Rating: Summary: Oh YEAH! Review: It's been awhile since I've read this, but the fact hasn't changed that it's my favorite book ever. When you meet the characters, you begin to really know them, and start thinking you know them. They are the most memorable characters ever created... Stu and Frannie, Harold, Nadine and so on. Beware though- when you're reading this, make sure that when you're not actually reading this, that you can distinguish between real life and "The Stand" life... you'll think about it all the time!!!!
Rating: Summary: Excellent & I'm not a King Fan Review: This is the only King book I like. I wish he would supplement this book with more details from various parts....especially the trek to Colorado. I find the whole concept of (almost) last people on earth fascinating. It's been done before but with too many science fiction aspects...see Night of the Living Dead, I am Legend, etc. I enjoyed the "real" parts better than the Walking Dud stuff. But, of course, you cannot separate them. Overall, a great read if you like the subject matter. Don't bother if you don't as you will be bored....see other comments.
Rating: Summary: Very slooooowww moooving...zzzzzzzzzz! Review: I read the very first version of this book, and thought it was long. Especially when it took me 3 months to get through it. I kepted putting it down because it was so boreing in many parts. Then I found out he added more to an already to long book. I thought there is no way I'm going to read this book again just to see what other tripe he added. He should have gotten rid of the first two-thirds of the book and keep the rest.
Rating: Summary: excellent. mr. king's best. Review: One of those books you will find yourself re-reading time and time again. The characters are more than fiction, they become your friends. You struggle with them and dream their dreams. Then, when you least expect it, they whisper in your ear, "Come see me. You know the way. But you got to hurry 'cause the Walking Dude won't wait. He's about his business and we got to be about ours...." The most compelling, satisfactory read of Stephen King's career. You'll love it.
Rating: Summary: Stephen King is the man!! Review: I loved this book. The worst part about this book was the fact that it had to end. I wanted it to go on forever. I wish it did. Also, Mr. King, get better soon on your recovery from getting hit by a car. Feel better and send a possesed car or dog after that guy. A devoted fan.
Rating: Summary: The Greatest!! Review: This book is just simply the best book ever written!! I loved everything about it!! I got the hardback version of the book from my boyfriend...and could not put it down!! It is my absolute favorite book!!
Rating: Summary: I would have given it 6 stars if that was possible Review: The greatest book written in recent years! If you read one Stephen King novel, let this be it!
Rating: Summary: absolute must read Review: King's best. I first read The Stand in the summer of 1982 & have read it every summer since then. It's just something you have to do. Now, if he would only release the next Dark Tower.....
Rating: Summary: Among the living Review: After you read thiss book you can't stay passive, either you hate it or love it (like I do). This novel has characters you care about (Tom Cullen is my absolute favourite) and scenes that leave you breathlesss."The Stand" is a fascinating book and one should read it no matter what anyone says, the book will speak of herself in a best possible way.
Rating: Summary: Fun to read as long as you have lots of time to read Review: As an eleven year old, this book seemed rather intimidating. It was a great read and I would recommend it to any body as lng as you have plenty of time to read it. It is One-Hundred and Forty-One pages long and can get a little tedious. However, it is really fun to read. It took me four hours to finish but it was worth it. This is among my favorites of SK horror and i recommend it to YOU.
