Summary: Great Read. Keep all the lights on for this one.
Review: Once again King holds his audience through the last page. I have been a loyal fan for 20 years and he has never disappointed me. Can't wait for the next one.

Summary: Enjoyable Read!
Review: First off, let me say I am a huge fan of Stephen King-even named my son after Jack in "The Talisman". However, I will admit that Bag of Bones is not his best book-nothing will compare to the superflu, Pennywise, The Territories, The Dark Tower. Even Mr. King knows that so I won't compare Bag of Bones to his great works. I enjoyed this book very much and found some of the scenes very scary-even though the situation was at times absurd. I became attached to the characters and was anxious to find out what was going to happen. There were some "cheap" tricks (best word I can think of!) but they were all hallmarks of King's writing. This book will not convert anyone if you dislike King's writing style, but if you are a fan, it will provide a few hours of satisfying reading. p.s.I have read other posting and some people seem to think some loose ends were not tied...I can't think of any so maybe you could post your questions?

Summary: Caught in the Middle of the Ranks
Review: While I have really only read Stephen King's books from The Dark Half on, I consider myself an avid King-reader (my favorite being the Dark Tower series). Bag of Bones certainly did not disappoint me. It had all sorts of typical King-isms and the plot was almost satisfying. I just expected more. Sue me if it's a crime, but I don't think it is. Despite mildness and near mediocrity of the storyline, Stephen King is still the master. The Master, that is, of writing an incredibly stylish novel. You have to admit one thing-- looking past the plot, the story is very well written. It may not be 100% accurate in the legality of everything, but he knows how to say stuff, something Anne Rice could stand to learn from in her most recent books (especially Lasher and Taltos-- horrid writing, but neat stories). In comparing this with past King novels, this one is just in the middle. It isn't bad, but it certainly isn't one of his best. If Stephen King ever reads this, let me just say that I miss Alan and Polly from Castle Rock and I was just glad to hear about them. Other tie-ins (Ralph Roberts and Joe Wyzer from Insomnia and references to Norris Ridgewick and Thad Beaumont from the Castle Rock storis) make this a worth while story for those with a King background. he's still The King. I can't wait for the next book of his, but I hope he makes a return to his REALLY scary stuff. That's what I miss.

Summary: Satire At It Best
Review: Bag Of Bones is many things. Obviously, it is a ghost story, that is how it is marketed and that is what it is. It is also a character piece, an examination of a lost love, and a satire. A satire of what, you may ask. Just as 'Misery', Bag Of Bones is a satire of the "industry" of writing. It mocks the platitudes, the hypocracies, and basically just the whole pasturization of what was once considered a pure thing. Maybe I am digging too deep, but that is how I feel. Michael Noonan is a great character and it is very easy to sympathize with his plight. The supporting characters color the canvas, rather than bogging it down. And above all else, Bag Of Bones does what King does best, by delivering the scares. I do not usually get scared when reading a book, but I have to admit that the tale of Sara Laughs raised the little hairs on the back of my neck a few times. People can complain about King all they want and say that he, himself is dumbing down America's culture, along with MTV and, well, just about anything else, but I disagree nonetheless. Bag Of Bones, for me at least, is further proof that King is a master storyteller in world where the concept of 'storytelling' is considered obsolete. I would recommend this book to ANYONE .

Summary: Stephen King Haunting our dreams and minds.
Review: I bought this book last week from Amazon and recieved it friday. Since then (Less then a week later) I have already made it to the halfway mark. Again King has grabbed a hold of me and pushed me into his universe. I find myself scared then relieved then yet again feel that cold tingle at my back. Mr. Noonan the main character has to be my favorite King Character of all time. He seems to take on flesh and come alive. I feel his pain and his happiness. Only King has made me feel so much for a fictionous person. I'm sure Ill be sad when I finish this book. But knowing me ill read it again and again.

Summary: Best Ever!!!
Review: Started off a little slow but once it picked up its pace, I couldn't put the book down. Because of his wonderful narrative, I was at Dark Score Lake looking through Michael Noonan's eyes. It's been two weeks and I still sleep with the lights on!!!

Summary: Still Outstanding

Summary: A CAPTIVATING STORY BUT THE PLOT WAS WEAK
Review: While not a Stephen King fan, after reading the first chapter of this book on-line, I just had to have it. Unfortunately, the first chapter was the most interesting. I found the book captivating, in that I was always hoping that the plot would develop. I was disappointed when it did not.

Summary: Captivating ! Again King is King!
Review: What a great snuggling upto book! I've made it half-way through and am anticipating the rest. I feel as if you snuck a little bit of yourself in this story.Could be wrong and not wanting to wish anything bad to happen to Tabitha of course but I could almost see you in torment the way Michael Noonan is over the death of his wife. I am still so thrilled to have been one of the thousands of people who attended your '94 "Insomnia" book reading tour. October 17th was a great night I'll not soon forget. You have the greatest sense of humor. Few see the wisps of sensitivity that we were privalaged to observe. "The man behind the books". You were at a highschool in Colorado Springs CO. via Castle Rock, (that was cool too). Your words said it best..."Sometimes they come back." And hopefully, someday you will too! Insomnia has got to be one of my favorites and partly because I got to hear you read some of it. Thankyou for all the years of fears...and tears. Margaret Byers

Summary: One of King's best!
Review: This was not your typical Stephen King novel. This however, is a good thing because if I had wanted to read a "typical" King novel I would have re-read one of the many other great novels he hasa lready written. My favorite had been The Stand or It but now I am not sure. I highly recommend this book to all of Stephen King's fans (although if you are a fan you have probably already read it) and also to anyone who has never read him (does anyone actaully fall into this category?). You will not be dissappointed!
