Rating: Summary: Good if you're a King fan Review: I've read almost all of King's books and consider myself a big fan. This is good, but not in the top tier. It's an interesting story line that keeps a good pace. Not quite a torrid page-turner, but worth reading. Please give us more like The Stand, It, and the Dark Tower series!
Rating: Summary: Dull. Review: I was very excited about reading this book and looked forward to checking it out. Finally, King had released a book that reader's were raving about. I think the first 100 pages ruined it for me. If I had to do it all over again, I'd tear out them and read it from there. They were incredibly dull and seemed to ramble. I kept waiting for it to get more exciting. The middle of the book was decent, but the ending was a bit of let down. I didn't think the main character did anything heroic other than follow all the ghosts' advice. Boring and muddled. I've read all of King's books and I hope he doesn't write another one that I found was very put-downable.
Rating: Summary: Chilling tale of the thin line between fiction and reality Review: I'm not a big fan of Stephen King in fact I've only read three books by him but I'll have to say this is one of his best. He's able to give us a picture of an authors life that only a true author could give. I'll say that King is no Poe but he does give his readers enough dark description to keep us intersted. All in all it was a book worth reading.
Rating: Summary: Wow!!!!!! Review: Bag of Bones is by far his best novel to date. It will leave you hanging right up until the very end.
Rating: Summary: AN ENTERTAINING STORY, YET DRAGS A BIT Review: This book has really held my attention. At times it's quite frightening, especially when he's at Sara Laughs. I'm not sure what's going to happen in the novel, and that's one of the things I like most about it. It's difficult to predict. I understand the character's motivation, as I'm able to identify w/ his problems. I also like how he's not really scared while in the home. A good read.
Rating: Summary: Great Book, another masterpiece by the King Review: I thought this was a great story. I couldnt put it down. There were some forshadowing parts I could have done without. But all in all it was another great book by the master. Keep it up S.K. But now on to the Dark Tower :)
Rating: Summary: the king of horror hits a bone. ( and it hurt so good) Review: bag of bones is typical stephen king. Scary. A page turner. A great story. Scary. A deep character(s) study. dramatic. Scary. long winded. Oh yea did I say Scary.
Rating: Summary: It may very well be his best book yet! Review: This book was extremely difficult to put down. King's characters come to life in this book more than any other he has written. I would reccommend this book to anyone, whether you're a King fan or not. He really outdid himself this time!
Rating: Summary: Overall good King, but lacks punch of old. Review: I've read all but five of Stephen King's books, and have had a unique experience with each. It is clear that King's raw talent has always shined through, and in his early books, it is this very rawness that entices you. However, it seems that through the years, King has developed his storytelling into a more sophisticated and thought out style. In doing so, he loses the raw macabre style that I have grown to love. In Bag of Bones, I loved the eerieness of how the ghost(s) made their first introductions, with the refridgerator, the knocks in the basement, and Bunter's bell. But it seemed that King didn't know where exactly he was going the whole time. All throughout the beginning he makes obscure references to a bag of bones. That got tedious after a while. It was like he was so impressed with his own title that he had to reitterate it throughout the story. The other ghosts in the story (other than his wife, Jo) don't state their purpose until the end, and it is very frustrating and confusing trying to figure out what is going on. The relationships with Mattie and Ki add great life to the book, which otherwise is pretty lifeless. The book does possess the sharp, unexpected twists in the storyline that have made King great all these years, but I just wish that instead of trying to tame his literary talents that he would just unleash the writing beast within.
Rating: Summary: A good non-fantasy, non-gore scare Review: I enjoyed this book and thought that it was scary (in a creepy and not gory way) and also absorbing. I love to read books where at the end of each chapter there is some sort of little zinger to keep you from putting the book down before reading just another few pages, and King is the master of that, in my opinion. Also I had been disappointed with some of King's more recent books, such as Insomnia and Rose Madder, where whole other worlds are created. I find the books that are more "reality" based much more frightening. I feel that a book is much better at generating fear if you can feel that the events actually could happen, and the plot is not just total fantasy. I did feel it was a bit long and drawn out, but still definitely a good one! also nice to see cameos from so many other King characters.
