Rating: Summary: If you've been waiting for a great S.K. novel, here it is!! Review: This was the best SK novel I have ever read, and I have read them all! It was touching, thrilling, and thorough. A page turner to the end.
Rating: Summary: Like fine wine, King gets better with age. Review: I jumped into Bag of Bones expecting classic King. What I found was a King classic, a story that should become a literary classic. SK incorporates an intricate plot line with sensitive issues in a masterful way. Friends frequently made me feel that being a SK fan was a guilty pleasure, the horror equivalent of historical romances. Bones proves that he is a master storyteller, not a mass producer of pulp fiction. It is one of his best works and would be a great introduction to King for those who aren't sure about his works.
Rating: Summary: Still reading, but it has grabbed hold of me! Review: Although I am somewhat of a "novice" Stephen King fan, this is still a great book. Having read "The Stand" and "The Shining" in the past three months, this one is nowhere near the quality of those two, but it is still a great book. If I'm not up reading in the early hours of the morning, I am jumping at every litte creak in my apartment. It is a wonderful book to just curl up with and get lost. I'm not going to write a essay on criticism (that's what college is for!) but it a fun, creepy novel. Just don't put any of those magnetic alphabet letters on your fridge!!
Rating: Summary: An amazing story of true love that's downright creepy! Review: The only thing I didn't like about this book is it was written in first person. This is the only book of King's that I have read that is written this way. The power of love portrayed through "Bag of Bones" is beautiful. I loved it!
Rating: Summary: Haunted All Weekend Review: I finished the book Saturday morning at 5:00 AM, in a state of shock over the unexpected ending. I have thought about the book the rest of the weekend, which is a tribute to King's storytelling style and his development of the characters within the book.As a father of two girls, one of which is not too unlike Kyra within the story (although 1 1/2 years older), the story tugged at my heartstrings and gave me a lot to think about. The book is ultimately about the power of love, which is reflected on many different levels within the novel. The story also made me reflect on how tomorrow may turn out to be totally different from what you expect, and so it is wise to enjoy to the fullest the richness of what you have today. Although bittersweet, and how I wish the ending had turned out as I believed it was going to throughout most of the book, I highly recommend Bag of Bones.
Rating: Summary: a thoughtful ghost story... not just about love, but revenge Review: I have not read steven king in quite some time. I had written off recent novels as too fantastical, weird and/or gory... too much on shock value. I was drawn to this story by the reviews, and was not disappointed. I enjoyed the slow, constant building of suspense. I enjoyed the lack of shock value, with more importantly... i could relate to the characters.
Rating: Summary: Bag of Bones is King's best, most evocative work yet! Review: I liked Bag of Bones almost as much for what it isn't as for what it is! Unlike earlier King works, this novel is able to sustain a complex and compelling story line through to a satisfying ending. It's clean. It's respectful to the characters. And it's easy for the reader to sympathize with the characters. In fact, the first 15 pages were profoundly moving. Nevertheless, King manages to keep emotions in check, so the overall effect is tender, rather than maudlin, and the supernatural element stems from events close enough to real life to be almost credible. I loved the book!
Rating: Summary: Once again, Stephen King has made me fear the dark. Review: Main character, writer Mike Noonan, is Stephen King in disguise. I truly feel for what Mike is going through (I'm a little more than half-way through). After last year's killer/thriller duo of The Regulators/Desparation, which were awesome, it's good to read a book by Mr. King which contains "real" people rather than just blood and guts. Every time I pick this book up, I have a hard time putting it back down. What entertainment!
Rating: Summary: His best since Misery. Review: After reading every King book up to Misery I couldn't finish another they seemed to cover the same ground. So, I picked up Bag of Bones with trepidation. I was suprised. This is one of his finest works yet. I'm back into King and looking over his last ten years of books to see what I missed.
Rating: Summary: AMAZING! Steven King Hit home with me! Review: I am a huge Steven King fan and Bag of Bones was excellent! As the weather turns cold in New York nothing is better that warming up with a chilling novel. This book has left an impression.
