Summary: Maybe Next time, but this one wasn't my favorite.
Review: Stephen - you've let me down. I have read all of your books, and this one was so disappointing. I mean I started getting interestedin the beginning, but your story line completely changes. You don't have to find romance for me! I did not even finish the book - however, looking at the reviews I will kick back and see what happened. Nothing seemed to scare me. I mean little letters changing shapes on the refrigerator, Come on! Getting almost killed in the town's small lake, Stupid. This story to me just didnt have the quickness and sharpness that once was our King. Salem's Lot - that scared me to death. I mean, I know we don't have vampires, but the realness, and the closeness to horror was real to me. I felt like I was the person going to die, and I had to run faster and faster and they were still after to me. I couldn't get away. I had nightmares for months after reading that book. The Stand is his best. I have tried to read all of Insomnia but stilll can't finish any of his books. I guess I'm burned out. I hope maybe next time. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Summary: Two thumbs up!
Review: Another number one bestseller. I could not put it down .You are drawn to the characters . I was actually sad the book had to end. A must read even for non Stephen King fans if such exists.

Summary: First King book I ever read
Review: I must admit I was never a King fan, but I found myself in the airport for a long flight with nothing to read and picked it up. I would have given this book 5 stars if not for the end. I had a hard time puting the book down and when I got to the last three or four chapters it took me 2 weeks! to finish it. Very big disappoint for the ending. I finshied it only because I finish every book I start, but I did skip a few pages at the end just to get through it.

Summary: Is it over? I must have nodded off. How did it end?
Review: The worst work to date from a great writer. Story went nowhere. Characters were dull. Could not have been written by the same man that brought us The Green Mile and Different Seasons. A huge diappontment. The only good thing that I can say about having purchased the hard cover version of this book is that at least I got the disappointment out of the way now instead of waiting another twelve months for the paperback and then being diappointed.

Summary: King falls to "Gump Syndrome" and blows a great story
Review: It's hard to say why this is such an amazing disappointment without giving away much of the story. Suffice it to say that, as the summary says, King has fallen for the Forrest Gump theory: take a story which is basically escapist fantasy and drench it in cynical pessimisn masquerading as bittersweet realism. There's no reason for two or three of the major, negative plot points near the end, other than a disturbing sign of bitterness and depression on the part of King. A great ghost and love story trashed by a lousy final 1/4 whose entire point seems to be "life sucks and then the lucky ones die." Take us back to wonder, Stephen, if I wanted cold hard reality I'd watch the news.

Summary: Enjoyable up until............
Review: I have been a Stephen King reader for years and I have almost all of his books. I was enjoying "Bag of Bones" up until the part where Sara is gang raped. It ruined the book for me. I have never read anything like that in any of your books before and I found it very disturbing. Seeing it from a woman's point of view it was very upsetting and I don't think it was called for. The way you described how many men were on her at one time, where it was dripping on her body, when the last man Devore, took his turn and what he was doing to her, etc. I think that was all in bad taste. You maybe a man, and things like that don't happen to men but they do happen to women everyday. Please tell me who would enjoy reading something like that? You don't know how it would feel to be raped, no less by a group of men. I would not recommend this book to anyone I know. Why don't you just stick to writing bizarre thriller novels. I guess now I have to skim through your novels to make sure they don't contain material like in this book before I purchase one again. I am still mad as hell that you put that in your book. I hope you have the common sense not to do that again.

Summary: Great! A Wonderful book to read!
Review: I was never a fan of Stephen King until I read The Stand. I liked the Stand so much that when I heard about Bag of Bones and everyone was saying it was his best one since The Stand, I couldn't resist. I just finished reading it last night and I loved it! You can really get into the book and the characters are wonderful! Mike, Jo, Mattie, Kyra, they're all terrific characters that stay with you after you're done reading. I would reccomend this to anyone, even someone who isn't a King fan.

Summary: Hard-to-put-down UNTIL...
Review: This was my favorite SK book thus far. I literally couldn't put it down and am now searching for another novel to satisfy my urges. However, with that being said, Bag of Bones ended in a way which was inconsistent with the tone of the rest of the book. This was the best book until page 500, and dropped (in quality) precipitously from then on. Although I highly recommend it, i was disappointed by the ending.

Summary: All (dull) atmosphere, no substance
Review: This book was just interminable. I've read all of Stephen King's books, and this one is by far the worst -- nothing interesting happens in it! This one and Insomnia were the only 2 I've ever had to literally *force* myself to finish, and I only managed that because I'm extremely stubborn. If you're expecting a rollicking good, involving story like Desperation or the Green Mile, this isn't it. It's also no Dolores Claiborne -- I suppose people could argue that not much happens in that, either, but I loved that book -- the characters were *involving* and interesting. I didn't give 2 whits about anybody in Bag of Bones. If you liked The Dark Half and Insomnia, I guess you might like this, but I didn't like those, either, for the same reasons.

Summary: BORING- DONT WASTE YOUR TIME & MONEY
Review: The thing that I like about most of King's books is that they are page turners. You get so involved with the books that you absolutely have to know what is going to happen in the next chapter. Is my favorite character going to die? Will they ever make it out alive? This is displayed in such masterpieces such as The Stand and Desperation. But Bag of Bones was the complete opposite. The only thing I found interesting about this book is the relationship between Mike, Mattie, and Kyra. But King then had to go and take away the best part of the book (Mike and Mattie's relationship). After Mattie got killed, I was mad. Their relationship was the only thing that kept me turning the pages. Everything else was crap and Im sorry I wasted my time reading the first 260 pages. If you want to read a REAL King book, try The Green Mile, The Stand, the short story "The Mist", and Desperation. Stay away from Bag of Bones and The Tommyknockers at all costs.
