Rating: Summary: Couldn't put it down Review: I think this is his creepiest book since Gerald's Game. I couldn't put it down, and I couldn't stop looking over my shoulder as I read the last hundred pages in the middle of a thunder storm!
Rating: Summary: lots of fun! rooty-toot! Review: I waited a while to read this one...got used to a book every 1/2 year or so and was starting to worry that Mr King wasn't writing anymore...as a kind of "junkie" for his books was much relieved when it arrived at our bookstore...the familiarity of the characters and scenery (I am a New Hampshire resident and can relate to Mainers) (sort of)is like having an inside scoop on the characters and their habits...I loved the romance in this book, too...as always, I will be looking forward to the next one.
Rating: Summary: One of King's Finest Review: WOW! I have just finished reading Bag Of Bones in 3 days...had to call in sick one day just to finish. This is by far one of his best to date. There was a shift in his writing, starting with Geralds Game, away from the "monster macabe". And more into the "mind macabe" so to speak. With Bag Of Bones he has brought both of those together and totally reinvented himself. This is the first of King's books that had me from the start, like only Dean Koontz and Anne Rice have been able to do so far. I'm now waiting on the movie version :-)
Rating: Summary: Very, very disappointing Review: I have read every book Stephen King has written and this has got to be the worst ever. It took me weeks to agonize through it and I only finished it because I started it and hoped it would get better. Now I am reading "Wizards and Glass" and can't believe the difference in writing, like 2 different people wrote these books. I hope Stephen King will go back to his old style of writing and leave the love stories to the romance novels. He is still the best horror fiction writer ever.
Rating: Summary: Leave 200 pages out Review: Would've been a much better story if he left about 200 pages out. It was to drawn out - the story lost it's momentum and failed to evoke any real horror.
Rating: Summary: Rent the audio tapes! Review: My companion and I borrowed the audio tape of this book read, in its entirety, by the author, to keep us company on a long car trip over the Christmas holidays. I have to say I LOVED it! It's 16 audiotapes, which takes a LONG, LONG time to listen to and I ended up paying a large fine at the Waterville Public Library, but I truly enjoyed every bit of it. I am NOT a King fan, but I intend to get more of his audiotapes, especially if he reads them himself. He did a great job. By the time the book ended, I felt like we were friends and he'd just told me a great story. Thanks for the experience, Mr. King.
Rating: Summary: HE"S DONE IT Review: He did it. The master storyteller has put romance with horror. I love it!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Nothing New to Read Here Review: This book started out to be a very interesting and, what I thought to be, a departure from King's usual stories. The characters were well written and the story moved right along at a good rate. The problem starts towards the end when the usual ( and predictable) graphic violence and formula style of horror writting occurs. Good vs Evil, love conquers all, yadda, yadda, yadda. This does sell books, but I for one am tired of the same old stuff. Still as I stated above, the depth of character devlopement and rate at which the story develops keeps this a page turner.
Rating: Summary: The most boring book that has ever been written. Review: I have always been the most ardent fan of Stephen King; however, this book is the worst that he has ever had the misopportunity to come up with. It took me two weeks to trudge through it. The only reason I finished the book was because I started it.The book was not suspenseful or haunting. The characters were uninteresting and seemed as if they had rather been somewhere else. Mr. King needs to get back to the subject matter that made him the great author, and quit writting books that just sell for his name and no other reason. I would not suggest this book for reading.
Rating: Summary: Great and different King Novel Review: This book was a very intriguing read! It was not something I expected from Mr. King; yes, it was successfully scary in many parts, but it also had elements of a Grisham novel and a love story which provided a wonderful web of entertaining reading. Finished it in about 5 days.
