Rating: Summary: One of Stephen King's BEST! Review: I've been reading Stephen King for years and this is definetly one of my favorite by him. I was hooked into trying to solve the mystery of Sara Laughs. This book is excellent!
Rating: Summary: A little slow at first Review: This book started out a little slow at first, then grabbed a hold of me so I couldn't put it down. This should be considered a classic. I love when King writes about the history of his fictional towns and this book does it nicely by occasionally dipping into the past. Well done, Mr. King. I'm off to read "Tom Gordon" next.
Rating: Summary: BORING SO FAR Review: Sometimes I feel that King gets too wordy and goes on and on! And I'm getting the characters confused. The beginning caught me right away but then the chapters slowed down. I feel like skipping chapters but I'm afraid that I might miss something REAL important that might tie everything together. Does this get any better?
Rating: Summary: I think King tries to cram too many issues/themes. Review: I couldn't decide if I was reading a novel about a ghost, a custody battle or writer's block. It was a easy read though. I didn't feel too pulled in different directions, just that King was trying to combine several novels together. In reality he didn't produce a horrible novel, just a lengthy one that had multiple personalities.
Rating: Summary: Just read below! Review: I just can't summarize this book with one word only. I'm just about reaching the halfway mark and I'm already in a safe position to say Mr. King has brought out one of his best yarns in years. Here's a number to prove what I am saying. The book is approximately 730 pages in length, out of which 330 I read only in one day. Need I say more? Keep at it, Mr. King, this is the kind of stuff your affectionately-called "Constant Readers" want!
Rating: Summary: Good Old Fashioned Ghost Story Review: I am a writer myself and I realize that people expect a certain style from their favorite authors, but in this case the book was refreshingingly different. I enjoyed being scared by a ghost versus some monster that only Stephen King's imagination could congure up. Granted when you read King you expect certain fiends and levels of evil, but it was nice to know that he still has that good ol' story teller in him. Keep them coming Mr. King, surprise me again.
Rating: Summary: Captivating Review: Bag of Bones strays from King's usual territory but is a fine novel nevertheless. I recently finished reading The Triumph and the Glory and found the two books similar in that they each left me uplifted and moved to tears at times. At any rate, Bag of Bones is very different from The Green Mile, which I found far more compelling, but Bag of Bones was well worth reading.
Rating: Summary: give me a break....700+ pages to say what???? Review: The King is dead, that is, if you are using his last book(?) as an indication of his health. Bag of Bones is tedious, over done, and in dire need of surgery (let's say we amputate 300 pages!). I used the book to help me get to sleep for about a week. I can't remember if I finished it or not. The King is dead, long live the King. They say when a man is as famous as the King he can publish his laundry list and get on the best-seller's list. Well, for goodness sake Steve-boy, please publish your laundry list, it's got to be more interesting than this!
Rating: Summary: Keep the lights on and your mate near by! Review: I loved this book! Stephen King has always had a way of scaring people, but this seems more real... There are no robots zooming down the street shooting people and there are no aliens landing on earth. You are touched by a man who has lost his wife in a sudden accident and then you are made to wonder what she was doing to this poor man. As the story unfolds, you are gripped by the ghosts that first seem to inhabit his mind and then his entire life. A must read!!!
Rating: Summary: Gleefully terrifying! Review: This was the first Stephen King book that I've read in some time, and stayed up until 1:30 this morning so I could finish it! This is the first book that really scared me ... the characters and situations were clever and eerie and absolutely sucked me in! Don't read this book at night! :-)
