Rating: Summary: I loved this book!!! Review: Until now I had never read anything by Stephen King because I wasn't up to the anticipated blood and gore. While looking for a book to take on vacation, "Bag of Bones" caught my eye. I immediately fell in love with Michael Noonan, the down-to-earth, sensitive, witty main character. I enjoyed the romantic and supernatural aspects of the book. It was scary and just graphic enough to not be totally grossed-out. (Although the description of Sara Tidwell's fate was disturbing to me.) I had a hard time putting this book down. I can't wait to see the movie version!
Rating: Summary: Sleepless Night. Review: In my opinion, Bag of Bones is King's best yet....i finished the book in 4 days. It gave me at least one sleepless night and a few glances over my shoulder. i don't think he should have killed Mattie though....I hope that King writes a sequel to this book.
Rating: Summary: Great book and change in style for King Review: I was impressed that this King book wasn't just a lot of horror and mayhem, for which he is well known. He tackled emotional subjects well through his characters and wrote a very entertaining story. I was not expecting the ending, however, and was a little disappointed at how the end was left. Sequel perhaps?
Rating: Summary: Welcome back, Mr. King... Review: I haven't read Stephen King in several years, for the plain fact that I wasn't interested in what he was saying. After just reading the description of "Rose Madder", I kinda chucked in the towel on one of my "forbidden pleasure" writers. I mean, when you tell people you like Stephen King, they either go "Ugh" or "Yeah, me too". Not too many in-betweens.But in the last month I've finished both "The Green Mile" and "Bag of Bones". I have to admit that "Bag of Bones" has been his best writing since "Misery". I was amazed by the clarity of his prose, given some of his previous lengthy novels and their slooowww plot development(Insomnia, The Tommyknockers, etc). And it was nice to see him skip some of the really gory details (while keeping enough to make you squirm) and stick to solid character detail. Mike Noonan really comes across as a guy you'd like to know. Kinda like King himself. And I challenge any reader to put the book down in the last one hundred pages. I have easily recommended this book to friends who don't normally read King. If this is the "new, improved" King, then I am truly looking forward to "Hearts in Atlantis".
Rating: Summary: His best since Desperation Review: I usually stick to mysteries like "Point of Origin" or mainstream thrillers like "The Triumph and the Glory" but WHO ON EARTH can pass up a Stephen King book ? Not me! He is in top form with "Bag of Bones", plugged as a haunted love story, which indeed it is. King readers always anticipate chilling horror and paranormal mayhem in his books, and won't be disappointed here, but "Bag of Bones" also satisfies a broader audience by touching emotions seldom touched in a book with the big bold name Stephen King on the cover. If you've never read King before NOW is the time to start.
Rating: Summary: Simply Great! Review: This book captures a bit of everything...humor, horror, love. Once inside this novel, i couldn't get out.
Rating: Summary: It made me want to keep looking over my shoulder. Review: The first few chapters were a little dry, but overall it was an excellent book. It raised the hair on the back of my neck and made me keep looking over my shoulder. Suggestion: don't read it in a room all by yourself.
Rating: Summary: One of his most powerful novels! Review: It is one of favorite books of his, and I was left unable to get to sleep many nights, before and after reading it. A must buy!
Rating: Summary: Very Different Novel from King but also Very Good Review: Bag of Bones is unlike any other Stephen King book I've ever read. It is farily long in the spirit of some of his other novels (It and The Stand) but it is not so much a horror story as a look into the supernatural. It involves the haunting of a hundred year old house in Northern Maine, and the best selling novelist who inhabits in compound. I enjoyed in thoroughly and tore through the 730 pages very unbridaled enthusiasm. I recommend this to any reader not just Stephen King fans.
Rating: Summary: realistic Review: I have read some reviews of this book and the ones that are negative, you must have missed the story line. I will admit i haven't read all of his books because I've seen the movie. He totally captured me with Rose Madder and now Bag of Bones, I couldn't put the book down, it is the best book of the year that I have read, It was powerful and completely realistic, I felt like I was in this world with Michael Noonan, I enjoyed this book and I wanted more, I didn't want it to end.. Stephen King is a true writer.
