Rating: Summary: Lovely, simply lovely Review: This book deals with the very human aspect of the paranormal, which is, I suspect, a difficult thing to capture. Mike Noonan is very real and his thoughts are ones I would have, if i was ever in his position, so i could identify with him. I loved the way he remembered and loved his wife, and the way he began to love Mattie and her child. But the other part of the story, the story about Sara Laughs, that was phenomenal. She was, perhaps, the saddest character in the book, and i felt deeply for her, no matter what terrible things she did. ALl in all a great story, with threads of every different type running through it
Rating: Summary: Not bad,but ok Review: This books oscillates from bad to ok to good and then again bad.Overall the book could have been trimmed to 500 pages instead of the 700 odd pages to read.Stephen king takes great pain to establish the credibility of each character and therin lies the plus point of the story, though not so scary when compared to his other works this book certainly deserves one reading, overall this book would have been much interesting with all the trimming.
Rating: Summary: One of King's best! Review: I love stories about hauntings, and when I decided to read Bag of Bones I thought that I may be disapointed. After all, I was reading a novel by Stephen King, the guy who turns almost every one of his novels into a movie sooner or later. Even though King wrote one of my favorite novels, The Stand, I was still skeptical about reading this book by him but as I started reading from the very first page something about the book sucked me in. As I read the rest of the novel I got more excited with every passing chapter. I'm not sure how anyone could really give this novel a bad rating. It has everything that one could really want in a novel...love, pain, loss, victory, and realism. The ending shocked me a little bit, but what I have learned with most of King's books is to never trust what is going to happen next. I would recommend this book to anyone...So if you are looking for something truely great to read, something that is bound to become a classic, read Bag of Bones by Stephen King...you wont be disapointed!!!
Rating: Summary: TWO GREAT BOOKS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Review: I loved the character, Michael Noonan. He was well developed. King drags the reader into the mind and emotional struggles of his main character better than anyone on the planet. I loved the dream scenes, and the romantic and supernatural feel to the novel. This was a little different than his others, but I loved it. I hope to see more of this style. The reason I said "TWO GREAT BOOKS" is because I bought two novels and the other is called, 'THE FIST OF GOD' by A.T. Nicholas. This is a phenomenal book. It's about a homicide detective that becomes a reluctant participant in the battle between good and evil. A very deep and emotional book! I highly recommend both novels.
Rating: Summary: Best edited King book yet! Review: Finally an editor has taken King's considerable talent and reined it in. For the most part I stopped reading him years ago when his publishers (I presume) pushed him to justify his high book prices by shameless inflation of the number of words used. If anyone doubts this, listen to most of the books on tape versions. But this new book had all my attention. He has the ability, but like Robin Williams, he needs a guiding hand or the point gets lost in the verbiage.
Rating: Summary: Brilliant mystery with great dream sequences Review: Stephen King takes you from an innocent death in the family to a bizarre past with seamless transitions. His ability to make you see the scenes, especially the dreams, will cause you to read this book in no time at all. I enjoyed how the book was written from the character's perpective and feelings.
Rating: Summary: enticing, compelling and full of suspense...one of his best Review: This is a unforgettable book based on love, grief and secrets from the past. I felt that in each chapter a mystery took place, and as soon as the answer to one was found, another, stranger, mystery was put into play. I believe that this book is truely one of Kings best. Intead of just focusing on gruesome details he tells of the vast emotions a human can experience. I found his story truly thought-provoking. Taking you deep into the mind and dreams of a man dealing with his own emotional struggles, as he tries to sort out the death of his wife, help a family in need and unravle the many untold stories of the past. This is a clever and chilling love story in which I would highly recomend to anyone who appreciates fine literature and materful storytelling. At times you wanted to scream at others you wanted to cry, which i suppose made the book even more appealing to me. Although it did not wallow in gory detail Bag of Bones did, cause me to glance over my shoulder at times just to be sure the shadow behind me was only mine, and late at night i would sit and strain my ears for the soft jingle of Bunter's bell (once for yes twice for no)and it seemed at times that if i sat long enough i could almost hear a child sob. But as you know, King's books can have that effect on anyone!!! so please give Bag of Bones a try, and tell me what you think!
Rating: Summary: I wanted a book for summer. I got one that lasted a week! Review: A refreshing taste of the not-so-gorey with the same King suspense and quality.
Rating: Summary: Good Work Review: For me reading most Stephen King books is like eating your favorite dessert.Pace yourself to make it last. Although I love the " keep you awake alnight " King books, this was a change from the usual material. Ofcourse it has the spooky haunting, but it is an emotional love story. I hope to see many more books on the same level from him in the future. And all I have to say to the people slamming Stephen King for this book is that I hope someone doesn't spill a glass of milk at your house. Just a little harsh, Don't you think?
Rating: Summary: Excellent! Review: I really enjoyed Bag of Bones. I've read only a few novels by Stephen King (Carrie, Pet Sematary, Misery, and Bag of Bones), but this one is my favorite so far. I was hooked by the first page. Now..I'm moving on to IT. :)
