Rating: Summary: Stephen King on 'Roids Review: This book is Stephen King at his literary finest. True, core King fans who love his simple slash 'em style will have to have a bit more patience here, but the pacing is well worth it. King, as usual, has developed characters we will love, characters we will fear, and characters we will hate - with no clear way to tell which of them will survive. Though the soft-cover version is over 700 pages, I managed to entertain holiday guests, care for the kids, and burn through this book every minute in between. Afterwards, I immediately picked up "The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon," and thought - "Ha! 219 Pages? Child's play!"
Rating: Summary: Beautiful Sadness Review: I've fallen in love with this book, and with it's characters.. A really sad history wich shows the cruelty of Stephen King towards his characters... I just cannot say nothjing more that strongly recpommend it to everyone, as If I start telling things I would discover things of it to people who had not read it yet.. just remeber, if you want to read a sad mysterious history, don't miss this
Rating: Summary: A very good and entertaining book Review: I am a big fan of Stephen King so if you don't like him, this review will not help you much. I think this book is in one of the five best books Stephen has written. I did not want to put this one down once.
Rating: Summary: Sleeping pill alternative Review: Oh Please! This was one of King's most boring books I have read. I did not find anything deep or profound in it like some other reviewers did. But then I don't read King for those "deeper" insights. It took forever for the story to develop and was altogether too predictable.
Rating: Summary: Heart-grabbing Review: This book takes you from the first sentence and doesn't let you go untill the very last period. The underlying sadness of the story mixed w/the pure evil of Max and Rogette is absolutely intoxicating! I was particularly entrapped by the use of the name Kiah ( which is exactly my daughter's name--same spelling and everything) and the fact that he used the same meaning of it that I used it for which is an African name meaning "season's beginnig" and I am also from Palm Springs which is where Max Devore was living his last years as well//Anyway this is one of the better books I have read of his and it is definitely NOT boring or clueless as some have suggested!
Rating: Summary: WOW BABY-GREAT READ! Review: I admit I have never read a Steven King book until now. I picked up this book at a local library and by surprise Steven King was added to my list of favorite authors. Now I don't know how other King fans thought of the book but thus far (I'm on Chap. 22) it is statifying and ingenius to read. No doubt Kings mind was working overtime for in the book I have learned an author's mind "misbehaves" and I take it thats how King does it too! The book came in and out with some errie moments and shocking ones as well (Noonan's wife supposivly having an affair) or the magnits on the frige gave me tingles down my spine while reading it, not missing one word... I can't wait for the film version of this come out and I'm hopin' ::fingers crossed:: that ::winces with a smile:: David Duchovny might play the part of Mike Noonon (okay so I watched to many X-Files--sue me!). Thus far this book is an errie, and original joy--a must read for the very read or little read at all!E-Mail: HIST1865L@aol.com
Rating: Summary: loved it! Review: Just plainly loved it! Sweet mix of real-everyday-life along with troublesome imagination and fascinating light horror. Makes you recoil into your most inner frights and fantasies. In a special niche by itself.
Rating: Summary: BOORRRRIIINNNGGGG! Review: Boy, talk about a long winded, go nowhere novel. This is king at his worst, except for maybe Gerald's Game <GRIN> Hope that he starts to put out some decent work again sometime soon.
Rating: Summary: one of his very best Review: I loved this book, and I could not put it down. A must for a "Constant Reader", as well as those who have yet to experience Mr. King's magic
Rating: Summary: Finally, he's outgrown his "bizarre" phase... Review: Bag of Bones is a great book, whether you're a Stephen King fan or not! It is one of those books that you simply can not put down. Even in the wee hours of the morning you keep telling yourself, "Just one more chapter..." It's funny and sad and scary and touching and, well okay a little bizarre, but not in the "we're no longer on the planet" kind of way...just a good old fashioned ghost story. I imagined Rene Zelwigger(?) as Mattie and Alex Baldwin as Michael Noonan. Great Christmas present stuff!
